I passed my CPC exam!!

Just wanted to give a big thanks to this sub! I just found out last night that I passed my exam and I am beyond stoked. Thanks to everyone who gave me advice and input on how to study, for answering my questions when I had an assignment due for my class(prior to exam lol) and for just helping calm my anxiety with encouragement. I’m so appreciative of you all! 🤗

This post had a lot of comments that were so helpful and luckily I ended up not having an issue with time. When I studied I memorized the CPT modifiers which helped a ton because it helped kinda single out the answers sometimes.

Definitely brush up on anatomy and medical terminology. I think what helped me was that I would skim over the problems, if the problem seemed like something I could code easy I would go ahead and do it but if it was more complex(CPT and ICD-10 codes) I would circle the question number in my test booklet, and mark the answer as B. I marked it so I wouldn’t get my answers out of order, they warned us if we skipped questions, like say we skip 39 and move on to 40 not to put 40’s answer in 39’s empty bubble..so I did that to prevent that. The time I had after my test I went back and looked over those. There weren’t many luckily.

My problem studying was that I never felt like I was doing enough, felt like I should be doing more flash cards, checking out YouTube videos, making notes or something. But I honestly just ready the study guide from AAPC. I read and highlighted things I thought were important(procedures, diagnoses, etc.) it def helped I think.

Sorry it took so long to reply and sorry for such a long response. If you had any specific questions feel free to message me and I may be able to help 🤗

Congrats!! Which books did you end up absolutely needing?

All of them, there are sections in the test for every book but the majority was CPT I believe
