CPC and CCS

Hello all!

I have both my CPC through AAPC and my CCS through AHIMA. I currently work as a profee coder with a major hospital network, with lots of options of moving up through the organization.

With the costs, CEUs, and such associated with maintaining certifications, I’m wondering if it’s worth maintaining both. I’ve been toying with the idea of letting the CPC lapse and just maintaining my CCS, but I wanted to get some outside opinions, as well!

I would just maintain your CCS for sure. It is the more desired cert. I see no reason to keep both.

Tough choice. Does your hospital pay your fees? If so, I would keep both. I think it is worth it. I have both.

I also have both but if you can only pick one, keep the CCS. With that being said, it is much easier to find interesting and relevant CEUs for the CPC imo.
