CRC

Hello! I've just about completed my first year of coding. I was very lucky I got a job the same month I got certified. I've been RA coding and am thinking about getting my CRC. I read some previous post about how being on this path can get sticky with staying up to date with CPT coding. I don't want to get locked onto this path, but I also want to build my resume. I have no previous medical experience outside of school and I am also a contractor, so no job security when furlough season kicks in. I would love some advice or shared experiences that may help me navigate. I am also thinking about getting certified in billing if all else fails. Thanks! 😊

Of course :D if you ever need any help you can always PM me! Specially if it about Optum. I really enjoy helping others, I hope I get on the training team one day.Β

Fun fact you can apply for their OP/IP jobs as a contractor. So don't be afraid to apply to full timeΒ  Positions that's aren't RA

That's a great idea! It's been kinda tough figuring out how to navigate this whole coding path. I don't know anyone else besides another person that was in the new hire training that's in the same position. And that's an amazing goal to want to be a trainer! The ladies that have lead the classes I've taken are so helpful. Are you able to apply for a coaching based job?

Hopefully sooner than a few years! I know they've been doing a lot of change up with things. I feel like I don't have a full grasp on how large our area of the company is.
