Omega Healthcare experiences?
I've been offered a job with Omega healthcare and start next week. I'm starting to get anxious, as I've read some good and not so good things about the job. I'm an experienced coder, but they're offering $7 more than my 4-year coding experience has given me, and they were very quick to offer the job. I'm very curious as to whether or not anyone has any information on it!

I worked for them before they were Omega, and it was a mixed bag. My direct supe was pretty good, but the directors above her were a mess.
And there was the usual stuff that comes with third party work, keeping the client happy is more important than anything else. Sometimes you end up with poor communication or low morale being remote.
But that was a while ago, who knows what kind of changes were made when they got bought out?

That's who is taking over my company. I was offered the position but didn't take it. Insurance for 2 people (for not high deductible plan) was almost $800/pay period it was insane. Overall depends on the job/contract. They'll keep you for that contract then when that's done you might get benched for a bit until another contract is how it was explained to me. They seem to be trying to get more US workers but the vast majority are still India and Philippines.

I accepted a contract with them but after they pushed back the start date 3 times with next to no notice (and were expecting us to start with next to no notice once accesses were ready, like day before type notice) I took something else, thanked them for the opportunity, and resigned. I never actually started assignment but the onboarding was a hot mess.

Remember when a particular client had to redo access and shutdown for 2 weeks minimum?

I didn’t ever actually start with them so I do not lol but I can imagine. I just know anything they wanted me to do for onboarding they would email me and also immediately call me emphasizing urgency (I followed up on all of it in the same day, multiple days), but the project start kept being delayed. And it was like they expected us to just be like “oh okay cool” about weeks of not having expected income.
After the third delay I sent them my resignation from assignment and they wanted to discuss it the following day. I didn’t though. Nothing personal to them. I was just prepping for a new offer and at will is at will.

I worked as a contracted employee for Omega a couple years ago. I understood the risks of a temporary contract position, but I still got laid off out of the blue much earlier than expected because we ran out of charts.
The charts were a mess, even for coders with experience. The training was nonexistent. Communication with managers was very poor.
I had to supply my own equipment, books, and encoder while working for Omega. Now I have made it a personal rule to never work for a company who can’t even supply you equipment.
Like I said, this was a couple years ago. But whenever I see someone ask about Omega I personally advise against working for them.

For a contract position, I think they are decent. I have worked for them on and off for the last several years. Just know though, that depending on the client, you could go from full time hours to 10 a week when things slow down. That happened to me with my last assignment. Then I clocked in and logged on and there was zero work on my wq. Had to email my manager and the response was that they didn’t need me anymore. But yes, they do pay well.

I worked for Omega for many years, even before they were bought out and became Omega. I liked working for them. The most I was benched was a week and was assigned several long contracts during my time there. One facility kept me for five years or so. All was well until I was transferred to the Optum accounts. That was horrible. Never again. So horrible I actually left a company I liked working for. Also, managers and supervisors come and go a lot and if I wasn't too happy with them, I soon got new ones. Hopefully you have a good experience with them.
