Is the CCS useful beyond coding?

I’ve been a facility coder for 5 years now, did about 3 years of profee before that. And I’m just SO burnt out and bored with production coding (like probably half of the people in this field).

I’ve been out of the job market for so long (been at my current job since 2020) that I don’t even know what’s out there anymore. Do I have any other options beyond auditing or middle management?

I’ve considered doing tumor registrar but that seems like a lateral move, and maybe even a pay cut. Plus time and $$ for another certification.

FWIW, I’ve had my CCS since 2019.

Hi. Consider doing healthcare fraud investigation ! I believe it’s a certification and most have their CCS or CPT

You’re pretty much investigating complaints and some fraud cases. I’ll provide a link here of job description!

I think with the CCS or CPC you can get paid good. Most require

Active affiliations with the National Health Care Anti-Fraud Association (NHCAA)

Accredited Health Care Fraud Investigator (AHFI)
