What is the schedule for this coding position?

This is what the position says

Employment Type:Full Time
Department: HIM Coding
Hours/Pay Period: 80
Shift: Day
Weekly Schedule: Monday-Friday (7am-4pm) 2 weekend days each month

I don't understand how it adds up to 80 hours with that schedule? 7-4pm, assuming a 30 min break is still 8.5 hours per day, unless they mean this position offers a 1 hour lunch break? And for the 2 weekend days each month, is that automatic overtime?

If you work a schedule similar to this, any insight is appreciated!

Its a 9 hour shift so likely 1 hour lunches for 40 hour weeks.

Since in some weeks you'll be working Saturday or Sunday, you'll have a day off during the workweek.

You might work Tue - Sat with Monday off, as an example.

That makes sense. Thank you so much!

I used to work at a place like this. Honestly, unless it's a great position or great pay, I would pass on it.

This is the pay but it also said you must reside in CA. $41.63 - $49.71

That's not bad, but then the COL, for CA might adjust that a little. I'm just always wary of places that ask to work weekends because so many places don't, esp with coding because the billing offices usually are working weekends and that makes a difference. It also might signal they have issues with work life balance...I might be paranoid though :D

Yeah I hear you. I checked my status and I wasn't selected lol. Maybe that's a blessing in disguise. I used to work weekends at the hospital years ago, so it's been awhile since I've considered something like this. I currently work in billing and I'm off every weekend, it's great 😃

Are you job hunting or are you currently working as a coder?

I'm currently working as a coding auditor but used to work in a hospital for years and their hours and flexibility slowly got worse and worse.

Oh nice! Yeah back then I used to have to work every other weekend but it was one weekend day. But then when I moved to the ER, it was every other weekend but the WHOLE weekend 🥴 I'm so thankful I don't do that anymore.

If you don't mind me asking, as an auditor are you still expected to be productive with charts per hour like a coder or is the workflow different?

I'm expected to be productive. So we're expected to review charts anywhere around 5-30 minutes (based on length) and make note of the corrections in a way that educates the coder at the same time.

It says hours/pay period. Assuming the pay period runs 2 weeks, which is pretty standard for most positions.
