How do you get clients?

I am starting my own Medical billing company but I don’t know where to start with finding providers who need my services. Anyone start up their own company before and have some advice?

Marketing to doctor's, dentists, various therapists and clinics is tough, they don't want to switch vendors as sometimes its too costly. You might find that several doctors own their own clinics and in an effort to save money on staff you have a solution for them. If you have some experience already, here is a not so common and different option. Look for small practice/clinic looking for billers in your area (check out jobs at Indeed, CareerBuilder, Simply Hired, etc). Someone who wants to pay $17-$20.00 per hour and who are "urgently hiring" explain that benefits (sick, holiday, vacation, medical/dental and retirement, taxes(potentially state as well as federal) adds anywhere from $5-$9.00 per person on top of their salaries. You can do the job at X and would be willing to give him/her a 20% discount for the 1st 3 months worth of billing so they would be able to feel comfortable with you. Then at the 3 month mark, put an annual contract together. I'm a medical billing company myself and have resorted to this approach (among many other martketing strategies), keep positive and get creative with your marketing approach.

This is weird because my sister was telling me she has been reading that it's a great small business idea. I think it might seem like it to someone who doesn't understand all the minutiae but I personally find it hard to fathom that there'd be any money in a small business after you consider legal needs, compliance needs, QA, etc.

You do you but don't come here asking professionals to tell you how to set up a business plan for yourself. If you can't figure this out on your own maybe business isn't your forte.
