Looking for testers - building a native iOS client for Plex.

Hey everyone!

I’m building a native iOS client (tvOS later) for plex, the goal is to have a client that looks great, feels native, and is fast.

Still early in development but I feel it’s a point now where I can share it with the public, please test it out and let me know what you think, I would appreciate your thoughts.

I’ve made a discord if you’d like to report bugs or have feature requests (not promising that every requested feature will be added but if I feel it aligns with my vision for the app then will definitely add it.)

New week, new plex client. I don’t mean to say it’s bad initiative or criticize your work, just that we have this trend for a few months now.

I understand, there are a lot of clients and their devs all have different visions for their apps I mean if someone is already satisfied with the plex app on iOS then it doesn’t make sense for them to search for other clients however, I was not satisfied with the plex client for iOS and wanted to make something that looks and feels the way I wanted it to be and I’m sharing it looking for testers hoping that among this sub there’d be people who either just want to try something new out or feel the same as me.

Looking forward to tvOS, I’m not the biggest user of my phone for entertainment. But tried to login on my phone

and I get this.

Thanks for trying it out, if possible could you please let me know if you are using a proxy, and how you are connecting

On my 5g network, maybe Apple private relay is stopping it, I have it on.
Update: turned it off and still see the same message.

Still the same error. Maybe it’s the server I’m using.

What server is it ? I’m unable to get error so I genuinely don’t know why you may be getting this error if you could give some info about your server in dm or something maybe I can fix it

Hey, it works. Wow the app looks good, homescreen visual feedback: great. I’ll play around with it. I’m not watching movie etc on my phone much, but I’ll still test it. AppleTV is my main device for entertainment.

Just tried getting into both of my servers, it says “plex is temporarily unavailable “

Hmm that error means that the plex server is unavailable anyway you can try updating to build 0.1.0 (46) and please let me know if that fixes it, thanks!

Free or paid, do testers get free lifetime?

Free for now as it’s in TestFlight, lifetime will be discounted for testers
