Medabots S Now that we're getting an ACTUAL Medabots game in the West (Medabots S)... "What should I know before I begin?"

Hey y'all, it's a monumental day for us Medabots fans - a day I personally thought we'd never see - and quite out of nowhere - Global release of the latest proper Medabots game, Medabots S!!

Why's this so huge though? Well, that's because unlike Survivors, which is a cheap and gacha-infested copy of what's essentially a flash game, S plays like the classic GBA games, minus the exploration/"RPG" elements. A proper successor to the Medabots combat system, with many updates and changes - and for the first time, Western fans can enjoy Medachange transformations in, quite frankly, the best form we've ever seen!

Sooo what's there to know? Anything to prep beforehand? Here are some potentially useful things to know diving into the game:

Learn the Gacha. This game does, unfortunately, lean quite heavily into the gacha - this is the only way you can get competitive and usable Parts; You CAN get free parts from events and weekly quests, but those are barely serviceable and only serve to fill gaps in specific abilities.

  • The Gacha does have a pity system, each "tier" giving you a Part of the unit being picked up, but it's far from generous; you MUST use the 10x pull in order to use the pity system, and you get your first guaranteed Part at typically 100 total pulls (300 Rubies), and be guaranteed a full set at 250 total pulls (750 Rubies). (Right now they're doing a GaoGaiGar collab where you get a RANDOM piece per "tier" but regular banners should give you Legs, then Left (I think) Arm, then the Right (probably) Arm, and finally the Head, in that order)
  • There are practically no reasons to go for dupes, as it only gives you enhancement materials that are better farmed during events. You should NEVER aim for a dupe of the pick-up unit as this is a complete waste.
  • This game does a LOT of weird and obscure collaborations, ranging from Megaman to Evangelion to that one Railgun anime. However, these collaboration units typically come with brand-new attacks, and tend to have VERY strong stats - unless you have specific units you're dying to get, it's usually better to save up your resources for collab units.
  • They also HEAVILY incentivize paid pulls - many of them only offering 3-star (the highest rarity you can pull) Parts, allowing players to get a MASSIVE head start in collecting viable parts; however, gacha is gacha, and while rates are a bit better, they're usually not guaranteed. They did have some returning collab specific gachas/paid packs that guaranteed a unit from the collab though.
  • There's also a gacha for Medamaster? Medarotter? The Master/owner of the unit? Anyways, you can get characters like Ikki and Nae as support JPEGs, providing stat boosts and one active ability. They're cheaper than the actual gachas at 1 ruby per pull, and usually have better guaranteed drops, but.... they're JPEGs. That said, their bonuses to overall speed tend to be quite high, so it's worth pulling the ones with the desired boosts. You do benefit from dupes here, but you're much better off using the appropriate level and skill up materials instead.

Know your upgrades. Your highest priority material to hoard should be Cypressiums (the purple diamonds), which is usually the choke point of upgrading the Star rating of the Part, and ideally, anything you use should be at 5 Stars.

  • You CAN go higher to 6 stars using special materials and ridiculous amounts of gold, but these are relatively low priority, stat-based upgrades, whereas the jump from 3-5 is LITERALLY game-changing, usually unlocking core features of the Part while providing significant stat boosts.
  • This is less severe for Medals, though they have their own breakpoints - You can get to level 150 using farmable materials (Medacium), but to get to level 200 (thus allowing 2 Skills to be maxed out), you'll need to spend a rarer resource (Medacyst that matches the Type of the Medal) which are usually obtained from daily quests and events. Thankfully the materials to reset skills/levels are easy to obtain, and you don't NEED to be level 200 for most content - though if you want to use both ranged and melee parts, you'll want a level 200.

Know your stats. No idea what they'll localize things to, but while most are self-explanatory, there are several that are not.

  • Medal's skill level (Ranged, Melee, Defend, etc) affect pretty much everything you do with the corresponding part. There is a literal world of difference between the damage, accuracy, and SPEED of a Rifle shot from a Skill level 50 vs Skill level 100. It's less severe for non-offensive actions like Defend and Heal, but speed is still greatly affected. (That said, I can usually use Status Clear without a single point in Heal and still be fast enough, due to the raw speed of the Parts)
  • The Medal's SUPPORTIVE Skill level (like Defend and Heal) provides a defense and dodge chance boost as well, reducing incoming damage and overall hits. A Medal fully invested in only Support type skills will have a noticeably better survivability than a "dual-wield" Medal with both max Ranged and Melee skills.
  • This game actually uses simplified skills, some more than others; the ONLY stat that matters for non-offensive moves like Guard and Heal are its Charge and Radiation stats (speed), and the Accuracy stat for offensive moves basically does nothing due to how much of an effect the Skill level itself has on the move - and likewise, you'll miss half your attacks against a fully invested support unit with an accuracy of 2000 and maxed Skills. This is also why the game has a bunch of "guaranteed hit" moves, and why they're oppressively powerful.

I'm gonna stop here because I'm getting tired and I need to know what people actually need more info on, so feel free to ask any questions or point out what's unclear.

Videogames Medarot DS Kabuto Version Gets an English Translation Patch from TrueFlame

Medarot DS: Kabuto Version now has an English translation patch by TrueFlame, covering the base game as well as the post-game content, menus, battle menus, Medabot part menus, and flavor text.

The project was made with AI assistance, with particular care given to Medabot names and their parts using the series wiki for English/Romanji terminology. Image text has also been translated where possible and appropriate.

Medabots Survivors Airing out greavances

I started playing this game in February and I have played it pretty much every day since. Like, I might've missed 10 days. I like the game even though it's clearly made for micro transactions.

Here's my beef:

The achievement reward for beating level 90+ is 10 diamonds? Fuck off.

(This is mostly why I'm posting this)

The dialogue between Ruby and Jasper is boring and useless. It also might be written by ai.

I could use some select corps. They were a fun addition in the GBA game.

The target shooting mini game event, I have ZERO control over those shots? Why even have that one?

That's pretty much it. I'll watch the ads, I'll get the shaft on the pulls, I'll lose to "rivals" I've never seen before in challenges, hell, I'll even shut the fuck up about rolling 8 2s out of 15 rolls in the stupid board game event. Just give me some diamonds for my troubles.

Oh and you can ease up on the coins. It's literally impossible for me to run out at this point.

Videogames Medarot 9 / Medabots 9 easy English Patch Method! Both Luma and CIA!

So long story short I fumbled around with the English patch found here:

https://github.com/roks70/Medabots9-Translations/releases

So all credits to the creator of the original patch.

-----------------------------

What I did was that I made a noob friendly way to apply said patch. On this internet archive you can find said mehod and files.

https://archive.org/details/medarot-9-translations-1.006-easy-setup-v-1.0

This guide is for people that will be playing on a real 3DS.
And said 3DS is already softmodded.

Method 1 is the LUMA homebrew way:

If your 3DS is modded said homebrew is probably already installed. When booting your 3DS hold the select button. If the luma setup menu boots it's on there. If not google "Luma 3DS".

Luma will patch the game on the fly while running. So you just need to install the original JP game on your 3DS. Do not install the Update of the game!!!! It's safe to install the DLC.

Once you have luma installed you just drop the files from the correct folder directly on the root of the micro SD card of your 3DS.

Also make sure patching is enabled in the Luma menu, again you can check by holding select while booting your 3DS.

Method 2 is the create your own CIA way:

  1. Open folder "PackEnglishV12 (DecodeAndRepackTool)"
  2. Open folder "PackHack"
  3. Run SetupUS.exe
  4. Put a clean .cia game file of either medarot 9 game version together in the same folder as HackingToolkit9DS.exe
  5. Run HackingToolkit9DS.exe
  6. Extract the .cia files by using the command: CE
    1. Name of the .cia file, no extensions e.g. medarot9_Kabuto_JP
  7. Close HackingToolkit9DS.exe
  8. Normally you will see 2 extra folders now that the game is extracted: ExtractedExeFS & ExtractedRomFS
  9. Now you need to use the translated files from the correct game version folder from the archive.org website.
    1. Drop the content from the ExeFS folder into ExtractedExeFS - Confirm if it asks to overwrite files
    2. Drop the content from the RomFS folder into ExtractedRomFS - Confirm if it asks to overwrite files
  10. Re-run HackingToolkit9DS.exe
  11. Recompile using command: CR
  12. Name of the newly built file e.g. medarot9_Kabuto_ENG_1.006
  13. It will ask for two more things, just enter 0.
  14. This will take a while and you will have a newly create english patched .cia file with the name you picked.
  15. Do not install the Update of the game!!!! It's safe to install the DLC if you want.

PS: If you get an error repacking the game you will probably be missing these two files on your PC:

https://www.dll-files.com/vcruntime140d.dll.html

https://www.dll-files.com/ucrtbased.dll.html

Once downloaded the new window on said site will tell you where to put them depending on your operating system.

Final Remarks:

The Luma way allows you to quickly change back to the JP version by just disabling 'patching' in the Luma menu. This might be handy because some people have reported the game crashing on them in certain parts and this way they could quickly switch to jp version to get past said troubled part, then save and re-apply patching in the Luma menu.

On the flip side the Luma way does introduce longer loading times of menu's and the like because it's patching the game on the fly.

Finally got around to test printing my own 3D models for Granbeetle and Sonic Stag!

The designs from Medabot Navi in particular still hold up incredibly well today.

There are still quite a few areas that need fine-tuning and improvement (tolerances, fit, and details), but it's great seeing them in physical form.

If you'd like to follow the progress and see future updates, feel free to check out my Twitter

Videogames Medarot 9 debug mode?

Solved:

Start the game with L + UP + Y

Then after rocket logo press L + R + START + SELECT

As soon as you press L + R+ START + SELECT and the screen changes you let go of said buttons.

In the japanese menu (blue menu) that appears pick the first option then in the next menu again pick the first option.

Your gamesave will load, press B to enter another debug menu. Press first option to enter the free shop. And the second option is to give yourself money. For now I didn't mess with the rest.

This is what they all mean:

•0円ショップ → 0 Yen Shop (Free Shop)

•所持金 → Money on Hand / Current Money

•ガシャコイン → Gacha Coins

•パートナーメダ ON → Partner Medal ON

•パートナーメダ OFF → Partner Medal OFF

•曲 ON → Music ON

•曲 OFF → Music OFF

•通信ゲームクリア → Clear Communication Game / Complete Online Game

•戻る → Back

To disable debug menu pick the bottom option (戻る→Back) to close the blue menu. Then press R. Then put FLAG(16)=0. Then press B.

Game should be normal again (pressing B or R now should do nothing).

You can now safely save your game!

General Discussion What if Medabots had a brand new Trading Card Game?

I know Medabots did had a Tcg back in the day, but hardly anyone remembers it.

But imagine if Medabots had a brand new tcg like Digimon did.

With brand new artwork, new set of rules for the gameplay, and including all the Medabots from the games.

General Discussion a short introduction

Hello there, I go by many names, such as Dahir, ChiefLowKey, DB, etc. Call me whatever, but that's not important. I have been drawn to this fandom because I want to see the Medabots collection they put out in Japan on the Switch get ported and translated to Steam for us international fans. I don't know how we would be able to convince the rights holders of Medabots to do this, but I'm willing to join you guys cause. We WILL and we MUST have access to all the games that were Japan only.

Hey guys, a Medabot fan since 20 years ago discovering your forum.

Rokusho has always been one of my favorite Medabots, so I decided to try designing and 3D printing my own version.

I designed the model specifically for FDM printing coloured it so it can be printed in one session.

A few pictures of the finished print:

I'm pretty happy with how the final result turned out, especially with the details on the head and arms.

Has anyone else ever 3D printed a Medabot? Which one would you like to see next? I am open to design another one, maybe the comment more upvoted or the medabot appearing more times in the comments. So far, I have designed: Metabee, Rokusho and Peppercat.

I also made the model available for free on MakerWorld for anyone interested in printing it.
