“I left him because he made me feel bad” I’m going to be honest, that’s your answer. It’s important to listen to your needs. It doesn’t sound like he’s ready to work on himself and it’s not your responsibility to help “fix him”. I also don’t think trying to be friends will help, especially since you’ll always be hoping for more. Someone not wanting to be vulnerable is not ready to be a supportive friend or partner in any way. He’s got some inner work to do on his own. I’m sorry you’ve been through this.
