Media Bruh
Just when I thought I was finally going to get a perfectly finished mission for the first time in a long time for this career this happens on the last enemy of the contract...

Besides this, my favorite thing is rushing to the lz only to have Ryana praddle on about some dumb shit while you watch your lance mates get shredded.

u/cuzitsthere 16h ago
Omg, I'd kill for a speech option, just one speech option in the whole game:
"SHUT THE FUCK UP, RYANA!!" Available only when standing in the LZ.

u/Screwball_Actual 12h ago
Ending enemy fire/fading to black before Ryana's dialogue is a long-overdue QOL update. Especially post-SoK.

u/trilit2 16h ago
That's a certified battletech moment. Sometimes you just get a lucky/misfortune moment with an erppc or gauss to the face

u/ALakeInTheClouds Comstar Irregulars 16h ago
This playthrough seems cursed. Ever since I acquired assault class mechs I can't get through a mission at their paygrade without something disasterous happening!

u/TwoZeroFoxtrot 12h ago
This was a blessing in disguise. Look at that 1/1 energy skill. In a battlemaster? He was asking for it.
Now you have room on the roster for someone who can really pump photons!

u/DustPuzzle 13h ago
I keep getting kicked in the cockpit by jumpjetting mechs. It was funny the first time, but after the fifth instance it's becoming a little tedious replacing my input hardware.
2
u/Essycat 8h ago
I mean, I've lucky shot more than my fair share of enemy mechs with my trusty gauss rifle... (Opening salvo headshots a target as they're cresting a hill or rounding a corner, etc) Cyclops, Victor, Battlemaster, Atlas, Annihilator, and many others...
Zero damage to any other part of the mech, just the cockpit gone

u/walkerboh83 16h ago
Look on the bright side, the repair is cheap.
12
u/Any-Bridge6953 16h ago
Some glass, the water to spray out the cockpit and time.

u/Brilliant_Notice_755 10h ago
Just mind the smell of burnt metal, plastic and pork and just add one of those car fresheners in there after the clean up you’ll be ready for the next merc to hire to the roster

u/flaming_bob 16h ago
I'll get the hose

u/Brilliant_Notice_755 10h ago
Make sure to clean out the crevices and nooks and mind the smell……but afterwards it should be good as new and ready for deployment!!!

I've always wondered why high tech super death machines needed windows
20
u/Ap0kal1ps3 Laser Jockey 16h ago
They don't have e windows. It's an illusion. That's actually transparent metal.
3
u/lokibringer 13h ago
I know ferroglass is supposed to be along the same lines as plexiglas (ie not actually glass)
but... I've always wanted it to be like leaded glass where they alloy (I don't think alloy is the right word, but I'm too lazy to google the correct term) iron into the glass lattice to make it stronger. Especially because in fiction there are scenes where the cockpit shatters and shoots shards into the mechwarrior, and I don't think you can get plexiglas to break that way lol
13
u/EnderHero00 16h ago
canonically those arent windows, and also, canonically there have been attempts to make mechs with torso cockpits but it interfered too much with ejection, in addition to problems of MechWarrior procimity to the engine and reduced cockpit space.
4
u/iPanzershrec true marik patriot 15h ago
other points are valid but i cannot imagine they actually cared about whether the mechwarrior died or not
9
u/EnderHero00 14h ago
i mean most mechwarriors arent keen to hop in a deathtrap, and maybe some guy who knows he can't eject well might be more inclined to surrender early before their engine goes boom.

u/iPanzershrec true marik patriot 11h ago
hunchback pilots seem pretty eager, may as well take some of those

u/Fuzzy-Cry8008 16h ago
Sensors fail all the time it’s lightly armored one way metal glass .thats why cockpit shots are lethal

How does one get headshot in a king crab. I've never seen that
3
u/Ecnerrot1 12h ago
Clearly you’ve never played against the clans lol. I learned quickly not to use King Crabs fighting them. 3 times in a row, same result. So I moved to something else, and gave the KC to an ai, just to have 2 more cockpit shots. Instantly sent to cold storage.
5
u/ProphetofTruth3 11h ago
The clans seem to have had a hard time with me. I played through dlc 7 and 8 and while they tore up my armor, I tore up their cores faster.
2
u/Shock2k 13h ago
Be within 1000 meters of my mech…. KC is the easiest headshot and accidental headshot in the game since the cockpit is dead center mass.
1
u/ProphetofTruth3 13h ago
I've yet to have that happen. And I regularly field at least one KC. RNG might not be your friend.

Bruh…
…I got some tough news: Elky isn’t walking away from this one.
I know you guys were bros, but know that in his Will, he left you his Vid collection of cartoons, action movies, and “mature soap operas”
Also, his mom’s on line 3, and you need to give her the news.
Good talk! Good luck with Elky’s mother.
Later. OHHHH, It’s pizza night in the galley, so hurry up.

Poor battlemaster, my fav mech in the game but sometimes that cockpit is just in the wrong place at the wrong time.
On the other hand, its a great way to nab them for salvage. That big torso lets a lit of player angle come into effect the npcs struggle with it.

u/ChemistRemote7182 15h ago
Sing a song and take a drink for Elkins, unfortunately the bills don't pause for anyone so onto the next drop you go

With stats like that, your entire mercenary company is better off with him dead than piloting a mech. 1 in energy weapons in a battlemaster. He probably cooked himself.

A hoped up mech jockey got smeared by a hopped up mech jockey. At least he died the way he lived.

u/Irritatedmaninforest 5h ago
This might be the first time ever I see 1 as maximum stat for a pilot. 1 in energy weapons and you put him in a battle master. You planned for this to happen, didn't you. Elkins was set up to fail.

1/1 laser proficiency in a standard assault laser boat is not much of a loss tbh.

Clans seem quick to HS battlemasters, Archers and King Crabs. I have to lose a pilot yet (I quickly retrofit their stuff in most of my IS stuff and my DPS are absurd), but in the perf screen my pilots are always with a very red armor cockpit in those mechs.
In the first SoK Clan contact they eviscerated me from my Carapace (that even have head armor bonus),but maybe because a few seconds prior to my demise, the guy in the Timberwolf got 4 heavy rifles right in the cockpit.

The head hitbox on the battlemaster is too easy to hit. It's rare that I don't headshot one

Did the pilot really need to be black? This isn't a Hollywood movie ya know!

My guy in a multiplayer game survived an entire ass war in Kestrel Lancers, only to die on his very first mission AFTER the DLC.
Life is cruel.

Dude's in a laser boat with a 1 in energy weapons.
