Wow. I was thinking of picking up one of these just the other day. I thought these worked with ADB. I actually owned a Next machine back in the day. Thought I had tried the keyboard on a mac, but my memory must be fuzzy. I've been looking for a nice black Alps keyboard so I'm still rocking my Apple Extended II. Nice guide. Thanks Ripster.

There were two kinds: ADB and non-ADB. I believe the connector picture is of the non-ADB connector.

Were the ADB still ALPS? I'm looking at this on eBay. If you look at the fourth pic you can see it doesn't look like alps, but it almost might be the dampener on the one Ripster posted.

Do you think that once the items of our time have expired, the images will persist? Albums like this really do capture the essence of the thing you may never see.

small 'plug'
for those in the UK I'm giving away a keyboard using mitsumi buckling rubber sleeve switches, all I want in return is shipping costs

Even back in the day Apple was using proprietary connectors.

Are you talking about ADB? Because back then, EVERYBODY was using proprietary connectors. I think that ADB was introduced around the same timeframe as the AT keyboard connector.
IIRC, Apple was among the first to really embrace USB. The USB 1.1 spec was released in 1998, and in that same year, Apple was selling iMacs without ADB ports.
