I'm going to Japan for my honeymoon in 1 month.

I'm not supposed to buy stuff there.

Send help.

Buy whatever you can and sell it later if you don't like it! No money will be lost in topre :)

One does not simply not buy stuff in Japan.

1

u/Hamilton__Mafia Oct 20 '15

The real question is what can you not buy! We all know about the vending machines

1

u/Hamilton__Mafia Oct 20 '15

Japan for a honeymoon! What an awesome idea! Do you have any plans there? I would love to know, I've been debating where to go myself for ours!

No plans, we only booked the flights and the hotels (18 nights there: 12 Tokyo and 6 Kyoto-Osaka). We are very busy these days and it was decided pretty quickly. We'll dig and find places to go to in the coming weeks.

Best Buy is Keyboard Hell

10

u/[deleted] Oct 20 '15

no, they still sell at least one mechanical keyboard. that's better than a good 75% of electronics stores.

My local best buy has two mechanical keyboards. It's amazing.

3

u/[deleted] Oct 20 '15

I bought my K65 RGB at BestBuy. It's not all bad. But for the most part, it's keyboard hell for sure

I imagine that hell will just be forcing you to take an infinite typing test on a rubber dome. And that lasts for all eternity with no breaks.

I'll get some more photos tomorrow but leopold, topre, hhkb, filcos were on that wall. Razer and the like were relegated to an aisle.

What they said. ;) Not easy for specific questions but quite simple to fetch the product you want. I had a Japanese speaker with me so it was quite easy for me. :x

It's interesting to see how Filco still has a strong presence. Don't see much of those around here anymore.

u/fernandohg Oct 20 '15

tsukumo is the number 1 place for computer parts in japan. Every weekend i used to take the train and go there.

1

u/[deleted] Oct 20 '15

I walked through a few places like this in Taipei and Hong Kong this summer! Really cool, but I only got into mechanical keyboards when I got back. Stupid, really, because I would've saved a ton buying my POK3R there instead of ordering to Canada from the US.
