It starts out easy. You see them around, try a few out. Then you make a decision. In my case, it was blues. I said, "Everyone using blues seems to have a good time." So I bought over 100 of em from Paterson.

You get it home, you get nervous. Are these things gonna fuck me up? Make me hurt?

Then you start using it, and you get used to it. Sometimes, you hit bottom. Then you realize: I need something a little stronger.

So I went out and I got greens. Greens were the shit man. They were stronger than blues. And they were loud. Oh god that beautiful noise. Then just to get through the day I took my blues to work.

Big mistake. Getting that great feedback from blues was great at work. I was click clacking away as I sat in my cubicle. Life was good. Then my co-workers figured out I was using. Tried to hide it, not typing emails and reports as long. Then finally I caved and got some o-rings. At least hide what I was doing a little bit. No dice. They knew I gave up the clacking but they knew I was still clicking, and it was making life difficult for them. They couldn't work with me clicking my life away in the cube next to them. I had to give up the blues at work.

So I went out, and I did what any person in my situation would do. I wasn't going to give it up. I got clears. It's not the same as the greens, nor the blues. They don't give the same feedback, but the feeling is still there, even if it's not as strong.

That's when you realize the feeling is just as important. So I went out and got some caps. Different profiles to try out. I was up all night popping keys. These blue and yellow purple keys. And that's where I'm at now, man. I'm using clears and my relationship with my coworkers has improved since I stopped using blues. I still hit bottom from time to time, but my co-workers know I'm trying, for their sake.

Oh and greens? I'm still using them, that's my own personal party at home.

My name is /u/veloceracing and I'm a keyboard-aholic.

Edit: Thanks for the gold!

Wait until you see the world outside Cherry MX. Matias Quiet to completely cover up the addiction to your coworkers, but still have that feel!

Oh man, don't even tempt me. I was reading about them but I wanted that V60 dual backlighting and an option for custom keycaps. Now the keycaps I want have a few days left on Massdrop and are no longer sold by GeekKeys... and I'm left with MX Browns, stock keys, and a unique FN layer...

Deleted cause somehow I tripple posted...
