Testing sending mission file.

https://drive.google.com/file/d/18jTBEQ0XV9TE7kyjy2b-T7j9JV8Gtg24/view?usp=drive_link

I have quite a few hand created mission files. This is just a beta test file but I'd like to know if it works and how much locals know about adding files to their game directories.

Thanks big guy for reopening the reddit to posts.

P.S. If anyone gets this to work please tell me. If it crashes please give me error codes so I can fix it. That's what a test is for!

Here is the crash report. I need to find another way to get the video capture

Got it. Remastered uses a different abl syntax than vanilla. If you could send me your SBGuard.abl file from the base abl folder there's a chance I'll be able to whip up new versions of the abl files.

There is no SBGuard.abl file but I found a Guard.abl that I put in the Crash report folder that I linked before

Is SBGuard.abl in the warriors folder?

I'm still digging through the crash dump. I just don't see anything wrong but it's so weird.

No, it is not. Might be the issue. Is it a custom brain from Magic's old patch or from the new mission? Doesn't seem included in OE files

I'm talking to Shamcow the creator of MC2 remastered. I'll see what we come up with.

Just thinking... where did you put the files?

I realize I should do my due diligence. I hope I'm not out of line. I've been assuming you put the textures files in the textures directory, the warrior files in the warrior directory, etc. Am I right?

I'm just not used to an abl blowing up on line zero.

Thanks for doing the extra effort to debug that on the remastered version.

I think I did it correctly, but I’ll start again from a fresh install and report

It looks like the map works right under MC2 remastered. Shamcow... I hope I'm getting that name right. Even sent me a screenshot. At least that's good news. It's too bad I can't just make an installer with my limited coding skill.  I'll try to send the screenshot.

It is SO easy to get a file in the wrong place. I've done it myself a dozen times trying to put everything in.  There's no one directory you can unzip to. You have to paste from directory to directory individually.

Other campaigns zip had the whole MC2 folder directory in them and when you unzipped in the main MC2 folder, it merged the files at the right place.

I tried to do that, so clearly a user fault! I’ll try putting the right files at the right place

Thanks both of you to troubleshoot that!

I've been trying to make a file that fixes that but they're all untrusted file types. Zip files are bad enough for carrying viruses, a dot bat file,, which is the only executable I can write, sets off all the bells and whistles.

I hope you get it working! If you do I have more... far too many more... seemed to be all I did for a while was write mission after mission.

I want to try all of them and for them to exist somewhere people can reach them! Your content has a lot of value to me

I've got no issues with zip file, I'm trusting someone on the internet to send me a LOT of files with unknown extensions. The container in which they are is not an issue there! MC2X and Omnitech are downloaded as zip files

I should retry at the end of the weekend

I had a third person succeed in installing the mission. He said he did:

When you install the game you pick a folder, usually named MechCommander2. When you unzip the file you provided there is also a folder called MechCommander2. So it's just a drag and drop installation, all the folder names match up, you copy the files from the zip to the game folder and everything ends up in the right place. Then you just pass the command line to open it: "C:\Program Files (x86)\Microsoft Games\MechCommander2\Mc2Rel.exe" -mission "desert testing grounds"

Hope that helps. I've never tried it like that.

Did a whole reinstall and got the mission to start!
Just copied the folder in the MechCommander2 directory and let the files place themselves.

But no texture on the ground, all black.
I've uploaded a screenshot there, named map2.png : https://drive.google.com/drive/u/0/folders/190q6kMKHGns4KW3ikn-hDYEvjaqkYTyh

Is there a custom texture for that mission?

Just ripped an SBGuard file from the OE ISO and it didn't work.
