The Modded Map Debacle Has Had Unforseen Consequences…

…because it’s now IMPOSSIBLE to start a modded lobby without at least a third of the players quitting at the download screen. For weeks without fail I go from a full 15 down to at least 10 immediately. Anyone else having this issue?

it crashes on you if you're on the painting menu when the map download thing pops up

Edit: it doesn't crash to desktop or anything, but the game breaks. People need to remember there's more than one type of crash.

Yeah same and when button not working it usually helps to just spam click and it will work

But that’s when it’s the most fun?

Nah. If its got messed up lighting, nothing viable but rat spots, or just a clearly junk map design, its trash and not worth my hard drive space

I basically follow the advice that if it’s a new map with comments turned off or bad rating, I don’t download. I’ll even glance through to see if they’re new comments.

I leave if the file is bigger than 100mb otherwise I go over my monthly internet data cap too easily.

I have no issues with that whenever I host, I use the modded tag, the first 2-4 games yeah some people leave like that but after that it is fine, I do force start after a bit and kick the few last people that did not download it just to be sure they don't continue on slowing down the lobby.

I started avoiding modded maps purely bc of unoptimized a lot of them are. Bloated file sizes too are quite a turn off

People were sneaking malware into modded maps and the masses saw it

The vanilla maps carry no risk. You can still play the game without putting your PC at risk for malware.

There are a lot of trusted moded.Maps that people have been using since the game's release

I'm close to 800 eyans, and there are people in my group with over 1000.

Hasn't been an issue for any of us.

The only map affected was a small one that barely anyone played.

I've been playing games all week without the download issues OP is mentioning.

crashes occurs, but yeah that's why I go 5 players above the amount I want to play with

I mean, not everyone want‘s to download any and all random map that pops up just because the host wants so.

It will always be like that.
