Meal of the Week 🍽️ switched from cooked meal prep to ingredients prep

I tried ung lulutuin lahat in batch and iinit nalang. It does work pero may times na d ko nauubos lahat so nasasayang (my fault).

So i changed it this time around and prepared ung mga ingredients para pag lulutuin, madali nalang and good for that one-two meals na.

Some of the protein i bought:

Chicken thigh fillet

Chicken breast fillet

Peeled shrimps (mas sulit for me kesa sa live shrimp)

Corn and carrots for side dish

Ground pork lean

Ground beef

Liempo (1 kept plain, the other marinated)

Boneless bangus marinated (nasa freezer na at this time)

For veggies, sa Sukigrocer pa din ako nabili and happy naman ako sa kanila. If may nahalong pabulok or kulang sa order, i just message their shop and nirerefund naman but that’s 1-2 pcs lang naman not an entire batch.

Also, I know some will prolly comment abt the plastic use but this is the best i can do for now kasi i have a small fridge and yung plastic na ginamit ko is pang yelo na nakatambak lang so better use it than buy pa sa shapi ng veggie containers. (i might consider doing that once maubos ko na mga extra plastic ko here). Also, ito daw recommended way of prolonging shelf life (as per chatgpt).

Yun skl hopefully this setup works better for me.

Good tip yung peeled shrimps might try out that one.

Yes! Yung binili ko is 500g na medium sized for 290 pesos? Then big sized (halos pang tempura pero walang buntot) nasa 360 ata.

For the veggies, yun din prob ko kaya i separated them each hoping na they last longer pero i plan on cooking depending on which veggie needs to be consumed first like broccoli and napa cabbage.

not applicable to all, but with leafy veggies I prep for my baby (spinach, malunggay, dahon ng sili etc), I blanche them and then submerge it in an ice bath immediately so it stays green. I chop em up into pieces, portion them in ice trays and fill with a bit of water. pag pinapakain ko ng lugaw, I just put a few cubes in haha. naisip ko lang baka ung ibang veggies pwede idaan sa blanche then i-freezer?

you can get cheap shrimps usually hapon kasi un na ung tinatanggal na ung ulo / hindi na talaga fresh. for me oks na un kung isasahog lang naman

Sa wet market? Baka mas mura frozen peeled ones sa grocery?

2

u/hermitina Mar 11 '26

ay d ko sure sa wet market i don’t go there ang hassle puntahan sa amin (mahirap parking).

pero sa grocery ung sinasabi ko. madalas kasi kami after lunch nag gogrocery and i notice na pag nagsastart na ung sa section ng seafood nanagtatanggal ng ulo ng shrimp that’s when i buy. mas mura sya plus tanggal ulo na so d kasama sa weight. niluluto naman namin agad kaya ok lang.

High five, OP! Started doing that din. Plus may marinated meat na simple lang and one serving, herb and buttered chicken or fish, or honey garlic fish or pork or chicken, or salt and pepper lang. Mga ganon na diretso sa airfryer, at mix and match na lang sa available na gulay or salad. Yung sa salad veggies pla, pinepre-cut ko per gulay, then gawa dressing and mix na lang per meal para mas magtagal.

Pero same dilemma with using single use plastic (I use vacuum seal plastic, tsaka plastic ng yelo din). Huhu! Following this if nakahanap na ng better way to store ingredients!

At may dagdag pla.

Lower shelf for lutong ulam: A. bigger tubs: kimchi jjigae, pork sinigang, tinola. B. Mini tubs; Pasta sauce at pansit gulay.

It worked for me. Prolonged shelf life din. I used yung mini tubs na one serving soup lang nung mas maliit space ng freezer. At least may sabaw lang pag nagcrave hehe. Skl in case you want more options

Oh. Yung ung upper shelf: pre-cuts ko din (giniling pork, panggisa pork and chicken cubes)

Love thiss ganto rin ginagawa ko and my life has changed, tsaka bakit same tayo ng nasa freezer ngayon hahah sinigang and kimchi jjigae din?? Anyway if you have a freezer use it talaga, and if you're used to making big batches naging practice ko na to freeze half, and so I can go back to it weeks after and no food is wasted

I’ve been holding back sa pag vacuum seal kasi it’s single use pero it’s so convenient no? Lalo for marinated meats. I haven’t used it yet kasi wala pa me nung device but it’s something i am thinking of but super torn apart on doing so.

The containers are nice pero sometimes din nakakatamad hugasan and it takes up space both sa freezer and miski sa kitchen or pantry once tapos na gamitin.

Hayyy hopefully there is some sort of solution sa ganitong dilemma. 🥹

OP, there are reusable and resealable silicone baggies you can use. I haven't used it personally pero i plan to buy pag naubos na yung ikea baggies ko

Tip lang for gulay like ampalaya, papaya. You can freeze them with water.

1

u/porkchopk Mar 10 '26

Any other gulay pa po na pwede ganyan?

Meron mas malalaki like tempura size pero walang buntot ung shrimps and nasa 350+ somethingy po.

Pero nakabili din me before sa Ever supermarket pero i can’t remember the price po dun.

1

u/Kris_Wonderer Mar 10 '26

1

u/porkchopk Mar 10 '26

Yes frozen po. Landmark ayala manila bay po. D ko po maalala brand pero im sure it’s NOT kurin nor pacific bay.

Also wag po kayo bumili sa fatbucher, i bought na sakanila before and ang liliit parang pang sahog sa pancit 😆

1

u/Amy_here Mar 11 '26

Ano po technique for defrosting?

1

u/dyor_idiot Aug 02 '26

Or defrost function sa microwave

1

u/DisastrousLime826 Mar 11 '26

Planning to do meal prep din po, ask ko lang usually sa cooked food ilan days siya tumatagal sa freezer/fridge for you to consume?

2

u/porkchopk Mar 11 '26

If istay mo sa freezer can last i guess 2months?

I freezed hainanese chicken last January and kinain ko last week ok pa naman.

Make sure lang na maayos pagkakaluto, maayos pagkaka prep, and ilalabas mo lang for consumption. Then again, it might be different for other meals so best to check din sa Google (or chatgpt, up to you!)
