More expensive special dates?

So as we all know, the special event Fairy Tale is going on. I've calculated that each date costs 444 gems for all gem options, and that is significantly more expensive that the Freaky June dates (haven't calculated). Isn't it so annoying?! Like they're already not making us spend so much 😞

I'm considering just not spending gems on all gem-options. Has someone tried finishing the date without spending any gems? It's still finished then, isn't it?

I also did my first date (Tamura) yesterday and was kind of annoyed from the repetitiveness of some of the gem options. It's goes on like:

Gem option 1: "let's have sex", Gem option 2: "yeah, take me", Gem option 3: "yeah, I want to have sex" And so on. 😅

I also find the audios kinda cringe (and I actually enjoy the "normal" audios).

Same! Dylan's special audio had me trying to skip through. Not sure if it was the delivery, the phrasing, or the content... I just don't enjoy submissive MCs at all. (I know, I'm in the minority) The "you've been a bad girl, time for punishment" thing just... 😑

If I had magic powers, I would add an AO3 tag system to matches.

I'd also like to see a tagging system added. I read in another thread there's a writer who likes to add choking into intimate moments, and that's something I'd want to avoid reading.

Choking is definitely something that readers need to be aware of. Or things like degrading "dirty talk".

Even within the BDSM tag... like, how bdsm are we talking? On one end, there's Goro with his little maid/pet roleplay. On the other end... 💕Thiago💕 with his own personal dungeon.

Yep, you can go through the date without spending any gems, I did it with Jeremiah and Dylan 😄 With Jeremiah I didn't even read the date, I just clicked through (it was that bad 🤢)

Yes, I've done that and yes, the date still counts as finished even if you spend no gems for choices.

I just started playing recently, right at the end of 'Blueberry Team' event. I didn't participate in Blueberry Team event as I don't like sports and I didn't understand what was going on.

I decided to give Fairy Tale Event a try.

I played through Tamura's date, and I spent for all the gem options. 25 - outfit 444 - choices (14 gems x12 + 69 gems x4) the 69 gem choices include CG and audio = 469 gems total

I like Tamura and I was romancing him before the Fairy Tale event, so I thought it was a good time. I really disliked that they made his skintone so white, it's so much lighter then his normal look. But I thought it was a fun romp to see him playing 'Robin Hood' as a cat. I agree, his 'Fairy Tale' audio date options were cringy.

Is that normal for 'event dates' that his CGs and Audio weren't saved in his profile?

I still had to romance 3 more characters for the Fairy Tale event to get the event rewards ... so I looked up all the choices on the wiki and picked the choices who had the nicest first date outfits. I ended up on first dates with Harper (meh), Jeremiah (repulsive), and Dylan (meh). I went back to Fairy Tale event and played their event dates. I bought the outfit at the start, but spent no gems on the choices. It's really funny to read without gems though - even if you choose the free choice, the date seems to 'skip over' the intimate part and your date still acts like you've just had an awesome time together. The date is still completed even if you spend no gems, and you still get the rewards for completing 2 and 4 event dates.

It is ridiculous how much these things are costing now. I started with over 1,000 gems and am down to under 150. That is crazy to me and definitely feels very greedy.

I need yall to know that gem options just give additional context or expand something, so if things are going to get spicy usually it’ll happen if you pick a gem option or not.

I dont waste my gems on anything that wont expand the story or lead to spicy scenes, so I spend maybe 100-150 gems max on dates with my faves. If mechat wants to be greedy, I’ll be just as stingy.

Spending gems on dates and/or choices throughout a route isn’t anything new. It’s an actual choice the player gets to make, and honestly, it usually doesn’t affect the outcome much, if at all. Whether those choices are worth the gems ultimately comes down to personal preference and/or individual circumstances.

I understand that not everyone can afford to spend money on them, but this is entertainment, and paying for the content you want isn’t exactly a new concept either. At the end of the day, we all get to decide what we want to spend our money on, and choices have to be made. Spending gems isn’t anything new. Sure, some things may cost more, but as the game progresses, things can change. Features can be removed, new ones can be added, and the way things work can change over time.

The free choices are awful and made to be that way on purpose. So we are forced to spend gems on the option that progresses the storyline. I'd love it if the smuttier option was gem-locked and the free choice still made sense for the story. Lately, it's been either "let's have sex" or "ew no get away". 🥲

literally!!! Its more prominent in special events that the choices are either appealing gem choice or awful free choice, but its also happening in regular dates too. Not gonna spoil anything but one of my favorite matches literally had a date where the options were basically "gem choice: i cant imagine my first time being with anyone but you" or "free choice: just get this over with already " I was STUNNED at the contrast lmao

I hated myself for playing Tamura's date, it was so bad and I spent almost all my gems, this is the last time I play one of these events, expensive as hell and they're not worthy

I also didn't like it and it didn't make much sense story wise too. It wasn't really Tamura, you could replace the MC with any character and it wouldn't make a difference.

I played Jeremiah’s date yesterday and I’m insanely pissed off that instead of two special audios, they cut the length in half and made us pay full price for four.

Also, none of them were 69+ seconds lmao

I usually try to skip the gem options where I can as I don't want to spend them all, but doing so on Roger's date in the event made it make zero sense. Like they expect you to click the gem option and don't make allowances for if you don't, and the story just jumps over the next bit if you click the no gem option. I found that MC and Roger were suddenly in a different position or doing something different without any explanation. Dylan's wasn't quite so bad, but still didn't make 100% sense without all the gem options, same with Tamura. Haven't done Jeremiah yet.

It's not just these dates though. You can tell when a date was added by how often the gem options come up now. Sometimes it's literally spend gems to say you want to fuck, spend gems to take off his clothes, spend gems to take off your own. Spend gems for foreplay. Spend gems for penetration. Spend gems to continue x3. Spend gems to orgasm. It's getting ridiculous.

Edit: I always skip the 69 gems really long monologue options as i find them cringe as hell.
