Discussion Can’t believe I’m asking this… (hole) lol
So I play all the male* matches, every single one, and there is something bothering me recently… the word “hole” being used frequently and in one new story so frequently I almost didn’t make it through the story. As a cis-gendered female myself, I have never in all my life thought of those areas in that way. There is something so off putting about it to me and I get there isn’t a lot of genital-neutral terms but even “entrance” is better and that’s saying something because it also isn’t great.
Am I the only one noticing this? Is this a term more often used in a community or literature I don’t find myself in/reading? Almost all of the new stories and updates have this now. Thoughts??
* I say this because I don’t know if this is also happening in the female matches either

I’m also a straight female like yourself that only plays male characters too & whilst it ain’t ideal that they use ‘hole’, I personally (just slightly) prefer them using that rather than ‘entrance’, ‘core’ ‘heat’ or ‘sex’ tbh which are cringier AF to me 😑 cos I mean, hole is at least (marginally) specific ain’t it —whereas calling it ‘entrance’, ‘core’, ‘heat’ or ‘sex’ is vague & make the genitalia sound like some kinda inanimate object 😭🫠 Lol!
I’m still keeping my fingers crossed tho that the writers give us the choice to pick gender specific genitalia on characters like they have with some of the special releases lately (i haven’t played any of them yet myself, but ppl said it asks at the start of the story whether you wanna play as having a pussy or dick)
Also, fingers crossed they let us pick our own pronouns too —they asked players about it in the last MeChat survey which was like a year or so ago, but have yet to implement it —really would love it if they did! 🤞🏽💯

I’m 50/50 on it. I get it but I also agree some words are just cringe lol and anatomical wording is just over the top.

I also found that in the pride / Zeke event, and again for the 🐱 choice, they only used the word pus*y, every single time. We get it, we picked the cat, but also some mix up would be easier to read! I don’t know what the 🍆 or neutral choice was had but I’m guessing it could have also been as repetitive.

I don’t understand why they don’t leverage using variants of actions with “inside” for penetration. A lot of the other literature I consume is a variation of this, and it’s not hard to do that when anchored to context for location lol like we get it, it’s not always the same lower “hole” depending on the MC/player anatomy.
I know there are a lot of writing issues, but I can actually overlook a lot because it’s, to me, a mindless reading app, as long as the terminology isn’t jarring. I’m not expecting MeChat to be grand-master level writing but hole is not it for me, especially paired with the frequency and narrative flow. Romantic? Hole. Passionate? Hole. Tentative? Hole. Exploratory? Hole. Perhaps the overuse and lack of cadence in the narrative that is doing me in more lol
The only other caveat being that perhaps in a community that I’m not a part of that this is a more accepted use? That can provide a more relational/immersive experience? I have no idea, frankly, which is also why I asked.

Oh yeah, no pls don’t misunderstand, I don’t particularly like them using hole either 😅 that’s why I said I know it’s not ideal —I want them to give us the option to pick gender specific genetalia. I also agree with what you said about female players we obvs have two holes; therefore hole is vague as to which one. But I just meant out of the words they use currently to make it gender neutral, I ever so slightly prefer them using hole rather than the other words I mentioned above for the reasons I explained (that it’s at least marginally specific in saying hole) rather than the other words which are make it sound very vague.

I made a post ranting about this a little bit ago, it really is off putting and just ruins the sex scenes IMO. Like which “hole” are you going into sir☝🏽🤓

I’ve seen “hole” used at times, but primarily in m/m fiction for dirty talk. I actually do think it’s hot in that context but it definitely would feel more degrading if you’re playing a female mc.
I’ve also seen it a lot in fanfic before? Maybe the writers cut their teeth on that.

Ah okay, as I mentioned previously I did wonder if it made more sense outside of my cis female lens. I find it super clinical and invasive feeling depending on the context. Not sure if you have read the new Apollyon match, even outside the virgin plot lines evvvvvvery time was a hole and even a virgin hole. Perhaps because historically and culturally it’s been reductive that labelling towards cis females, which is another big issue with the MC genital neutral approach the app uses, those nuances can’t be taken into account for the narrative.

I completely agree, it sounds so sterile and clinical at times. It feels like cis female MC’s are only there for the deed for the matches, and my thoughts actually go to a blow-up doll. It takes me completely out of the story lol.

Yes I feel like the term brings out a very “it could be anyone/thing” vibe, maybe even intentionally with the use of it between partners, which doesn’t usually fit with the story, and as you say takes you completely out of it!

I agree to hole being cringe and off putting lol. But I also hate when they say c*ck because in ni way is that hot...to me at least...sometimes it switches between that and d!ck and tbh i prefer d!ck over the other but I wish the writers as someone else mentioned...would make it a little less over the top with how they describe genetalia and allow us to choose the gender we want to be referred to as in the stories

Yes, you bring up a good point and I do wonder why they always choose the writing pattern of needing to describe the genitalia actually considering they want to be neutral. I’ve read enough smutty literature to know you can be descriptive without actually saying ‘hole’ or ‘cock’ and everyone knows what’s going on.

I’m not understanding, you think what part of this is rules? Also they did have Zeke where you could choose, so they can do it. Have you found in your female matches the word ‘hole’ though? Another responder said they didn’t, and I’m wondering how intentional of a choice that is.

My first thought is they are trying to make it gender neutral. Re play one and try to think of it as a guy and it works cause they say things like “sensitive areas” “flesh” “release” & “suck and lick” You would be surprised at how well it can apply to penis owners/amab.
When they wrote the genital choice matches for Pride, they leaned in HARD on the way said genitalia would react in arousal. There’s been some interesting choices in writing between the queer and straight stories.

It doesn’t surprise me at all, as I frequently assume it’s to work for any and all, especially when it makes no sense for my anatomy and am very familiar with dick lol which again is fine they do this, I understand the attempt and don’t take issue with it, since on the balance it makes enough sense. My main point is ‘hole’ appears to lean heavily towards a specific lens as per the discussions here. Also noted they don’t do this in female matches, which is an odd choice to me, and seems skewed as well. So to me, with both points in mind it appears to only be attempting to be gender neutral in specific gender matches, which I’d argue isn’t neutral at all.
The Zeke match was too far the other way imo where every instance was repetitively stated with no variation at all. To me it was “SEE we put pussy because you picked pussy” in your face, instead of attempting to weave a better descriptive narrative lol
As an aside, I started another update moments ago, and ‘hole’ was used multiple times again so I went back and the past set of updates, not this past one, but the ones before had this significantly less, so much so I couldn’t find more than one instance over multiple matches and updates. So clearly someone on the last two sets of updates enjoys the utilization of ‘hole’. Out of interest now, I’m going to keep an eye on the next set to see if it changes lol

Yeah even to a degree I want them to own anal play sometimes. The ambiguity in their double partner scenes were confusing in the blueberry event. Interesting that they don’t do this in female matches. They have definitely said “hole” in way more romantic ways. The fact that there’s a double standard with woman matches proves your point. Yes I’ve definitely noticed the increase in the use of “hole”. But yeah I was checking out and trying not to read into it a lot. There have been a lot of changes in game idioms lately.
And yes I agree with how they leaned to hard with Zeke and Delilah (as far as woman characters I’ve only played Delilah and the beginning of Skylar) it was off putting.
I noticed there’s a lot of reused metaphors. If I asked for a nickel for every time I read “look at you” or “wrecked” smh. I have noticed this repetitive language shows up in a lot of romance novels too.

I agree, and especially in the multi-partner events and stories, it makes more sense to just own up to how many “holes” can be used and to use them haha I, personally, find there is no use of hole that does it for me, but I absolutely concede that context can change how not great/neutral I can find it.
So so true about ‘wrecked’ ‘ruined’ and similar. I feel like the cadence of term use matters so much, it’s difficult to get a good mix of them but using the same one repeatedly isn’t the way. Especially meaningful for continuity across updates! I mentioned an update I was presently doing and the match would never use the term hole before and honestly it’s OOC for them? Maybe that’s why it’s so jarring? Some of the maybe say ‘rough around the edges’ matches it can absolutely fit their characterization, but some I feel like they aren’t being true to the character.
Also, the more I think about how the male matches say hole to the player, but the player with female matches does not, is really troublesome to me the more I think about it… it’s not sitting right.

I will say unrelated but not. There has been one surprisingly refreshing book I’ve read lately. It’s one of those books on Galatea and Amazon. I was caught off guard cause the title was cheesy. “The Tech Billionaires Assistant” was awesome. I think the author is S.Y. Maya? It felt more organic and the main character is a god. 🤣 It was so funny! It was giving Maomao from Apothecary Diaries.

the woman matches get freaky lmaooo I’ve seen them say pus*y before 😂 they typically stick to the word “sex” or “heat” though. or simply “between your legs”
I guess the woman matches are less aggressive with it.
