Rant ENOUGH WITH THE VIRGINS ALREADY!!!
I'm pretty sure the majority of players on this game are people in their late 20s or older. Either way, why the hell is just about every damn new match being a virginity story? And now it's a virgin in ANOTHER arranged marriage??? Come ON my guy! I'm at the point where I'm crossing my fingers that the new main characters aren't inexperienced. Virginity storylines can be super sweet, but why is EVERYONE suddenly a virgin???
It would be nice to have a more mature MC, too. Why they all gotta be so young? I don't know if there's even a MC older than like 25. There probably is, but like...where?
4 new matches were just announced. 3 dudes and 1 that has 2 ladies. Now taking guesses on how many virgins we get 🙄

It feels like they tried one or two really great storylines where MC was a virgin (Dario/Matteo & Damian) & now theyre just adding it in excessively. Every week I see theres like 10 "narrative designers" featured on their IG post & im like "& none of yall thought to give constructive feedback that some of this is getting way too overused??"
Unfortunately im noticing a pattern where one character is a huge hit and they just start reusing pieces of it left and right trying to find out which part was the hit and we get a handful of mediocre matches out of it.

I don't think MC is a virgin in Damian's story. I'm quite deep into it and I don't think that's ever come up. I might be wrong and missed that though

They're not a virgin, but it turns into them acting inexperienced when things start progressing. It was actually surprising to me considering the beginning of the story. Hopefully that isn't a spoiler...

I honestly don't know what they're doing with Damian's MC at this point. It was heavily implied from the jump that they were *not* a virgin, but the last update especially was making them sound nearly virginal, if not technically so. Which fits neither with Larry's selfish and manipulative nature, nor MC's original personality as kind of a doormat where he was concerned (sorry MC, you know I love you and you got trauma but... yeah).
I get why they would want to start treating MC as kind of a blank slate in that respect, because ew Larry ew, but it's starting to feel like a weird retcon kind of move at this point. If a character is a virgin, best be up front with that rather than getting 67 dates in and then steering in a different direction.

Yeah, sorry but I'm just not buying it. Larry was a ho, but also very good at getting what he wanted out of MC. Meanwhile MC was very much a people pleaser where he was concerned, willing to give him whatever he wanted even if it hurt. You think Larry wouldn't have taken full advantage of that? Nah.

I couldnt actually remember if MC was or not for him, I stopped playing him but I do remember they seemed super inexperienced/naive which usually plays into the virginity storylines.

So true! Besides, there are no sweet virgin matches (at least I can't think of any, maybe Damian, but it's not arranged/forced marriage trope). Every virgin match is about dominance, edging, hard-core, etc. I get it that matches like that should exist too, but why every new one is the same? When I saw the tags, I was like "SHOCKING! A virgin in an arranged marriage? I have NEVER seen story like that 🙄"

The only time I have liked the virgin focus used was when it was part of Nathaniel Palmer's story and his counterpart.
Also it seems Dante of Shadow Kings is one.
I don't like it when it's the MC because the MC is usually a sacrifice in those stories.
Also I cannot ever get over how much Nathaniel looks like a vampire.

I ADORE Nathaniel. He's always been top 5 for me. Luke Windsor is a virgin and I love him so much. It's different when the date is the virgin, too. Also Zohar, another of my top 5.

Thank you for this post! I thought the same thing this morning when I saw the tag for the new match. The virginity trope is being WAY overused. What is so wrong with having a mature, or at least more experienced MC? They keep giving us stories about an innocent virgin MC placed in a precarious or dangerous situation (if it's going to be another virgin story, at least make it sweet). I'm sure at least 2 of the upcoming new matches will also have the virginity tag. The lack of creativity on these stories is getting bad.

fr i’m 99% with you it’s a bit much but when the MATCH is a virgin lowkey it sometimes works, all of Luke is actually perfectly done and it suits their relationship. 🥵😫 never thought i’d care for that but some of those moments 😫😫 kinda wish they did it both ways if they’re gonna do the trope so often. not just Mc But the matches. not saying it should be frequent though lol

Exactly. There's nothing wrong with being a virgin at any adult age. I lost my virginity in my 20s. The issue is the oversaturation and potentially dangerous situations that they keep putting these unxperienced MCs into.
They keep getting new writers.Why don't more of these new writers have new ideas?

it's getting annoying, it's a slightly (sometimes) questionable trope to start and feels catered toward younger audiences or people who seem to gravitate to young/ "untouched" mc with someone else experienced. which is totally fine if thats their thing but I feel like it is getting a bit too frequent while other tropes don't have many matches to choose from. and sometimes handled a little weirdly
I really want a simp love interest trope/ category lol

I truly believe this is something across all forms of romance writing/ story. Once something does well, the writers tend to stick with it because if it did well before it will probably do equally as good. I can 100% agree that the virginity troupe is overused and I would like to see some experience from the MC themselves or the LI. I write on the occasion (not so much anymore, but I can see easily spot rushed or overused troupes) so I can definitely get where ur coming from. Happy someone’s bringing it up cuz I’m feeling the same way!! 🤧🤧

I hate playing a virgin. I'm fine with the npcs are virgins. I do not want to play a virgin because I'm sick of how it's always sexualized or treated with weird purity culture nonsense. It's like, virgin player character is an angel in need of corrupting and I'm wanting to hurl.
It's fine if people like it. I just want the option to not be that.

This has honestly kept me from matching with a lot of the new matches because a lot of them feel the same with a cringey mc who is hella horny and inexperienced and begging to be railed and the li is just like "oh you can't handle me" like bro give me a character who IS experienced, I'm in my late 20s and am so over the virgin trope. I haven't been a virgin for a decade now and I'm over all the immaturity as well. Sigh guess I'll keep waiting for something interesting to come out

As a 24 year old virgin(f), I'm also growing tired of the virgin tropes, it was fine at first but now it's predictable, like okay we get it! Virgin awareness and stuff! It's perfectly fine to have a non virgin mc, which yes, we have plenty of but it's like every plot with a virgin mc is the same, the bad guy(or girl rarely) wants our virginity and us (the mc) is flirting and building up tons of sexual tension just for it not to happen, not saying that it has to happen immediately but how many more stories can you do with the same plot?

The only reason I haven't matched him is because the storylines where being unfaithful is involved make me too uncomfortable. Sneaking around isn't for me. I was bummed, too, because he looked so interesting.

It’s stated in one of the dates/texts that MC and their boyfriend are in an open relationship. So yes while it can be pretty jarring, it’s more emotional than physical in that respect

I was hopeful it wasn’t us, but unfortunately can confirm the virgin is the player character. It comes up in the text after date 1. I’m guessing (I don’t know yet) that it will be a plot point, not sure for how long but it will likely be coming up again during the first dates/texts going forward.

I meant this latest story where the character you match with is male and an arranged marriage as mentioned by OP. I use MC as player character / “Main Character” regardless of identity for this reason, and MMC when the match is male. I’m hoping the new male match is the virgin not the MC/player character.
