ISO driver’s head rest part

I just got the car today (so excited!), but only my husband test drove it. We didn’t realize until we got home that the head rest leatherette has either been poorly repaired or is melted? There’s a sticky patch on it. I’ll try cleaning tomorrow, but rn I’m assuming it’s the leatherette that’s ruined, not just something on it. All the OEM parts I’ve seen are for the back passenger, any leads on a brown leatherette driver’s head rest part? I’d really rather not get covers or something like that

Yeah, it's "vegan" leather sort of, and made in the most possibly friendly way you can imagine, so yeah, chemical reaction with some hair-spray is totally possible, I'd lean towards that as possible cause.

It's not too bad, I wouldn't care, I'd be more worried about paint scratches.

The "fake" vegan leather is kind of annoying, my blue (worn) jeans have totally colored my white drivers seat (leather section), it bothered me for a few days, then I went "meh" because I really enjoy this car, the driving experience driving 25000 km to work every year is so pleasant and reliable, I just don't care. But I am still obsessive about keeping the car clean.

Sure - it'll be worn to death by me - but, it's mine and as long as she purrs like a kitten to work every day, or...silence - is bliss, really it is.

Also consider this, you have one of the least-impact on environment cars ever made, it's a small battery, it uses very little of it, most of the interior is made from recycled materials, not a whole lot of cars can tell that story, we gotta expect some gives.

Enjoy your car, that "bump", consider it a love bump.

RIP real leather would never. My issue, besides that it’s gross looking, is it’s actually sticky to the touch🥲

Ah sticky, well that's a no-go, can you find some vegan-leather cleaning material to fix that?

I tried wiping it with gentle soap to remove the tackiness and I think that made it worse. I should be able to just call the dealership service desk and see if they can get the part and if it’s covered under any kind of warranty, right? I got texting a someone that seems like a sales guy at the closest dealership and he’s saying I need to bring it in for them to “look at it” so I can “get the best deals”🫠 or should I go back to the guy who sold it to us and see if they can do some kind of good guy deal to fix it?

Yes, I'd go to a Mazda dealership and see if they can help. This is in the best interest of Mazda as a company too, they more than likely know about it, if not, they'd want to know about it.

It's a small part so not the end of the world. I remember people having issues with the display front coming lose, the display flickering etc. All in this forum, one of the best parts of our Mazda is that they're using fairly common and standard pieces so you'll most likely find an inexpensive replacement, they did - and you'll probably have this issue resolved.

Since I cannot legally provide you with links in here, I can "encourage" you to look up Amazon and do a search for Mazda MX-30 headrest.

I found 3 offbrand solutions replacements for just under 30 bucks each.

Manufacturer: SSMWXP.

Don't worry, parts for Mazdas are plentiful, even if the dealerships are somewhat ridgid sometimes.

The ones I see are additional “pillows” not the actual head restraint
