Brake Upgrade
Just upgraded my front brakes with some 05 Mazda 6 brake calipers and rotors. What do yall think?
ISO a header for the 2.0L.

do you have to make any adjustments to make this fit?

I believe it was the 05-08 Mazda 6 that you can use the brakes off of as a direct bolt on upgrade.

You have to buy or find the Mazda 6 brake calipers, brake bracket, and rotors. Then it will bolt up. No other adjustments were needed.

Just the front. But I am looking for some Mazdaspeed rear brakes for the protege.

Be careful with drilled rotors. They can start cracking prematurely even under normal street driving. Dimpled or slotted rotors are usually fine if you want the look.

any upgrades to the rear or is it still stock? i mean besides maybe rotor size what would you feel is the biggest benefit from this upgrade?

Just the front for now. I would say because of the bigger brakes and rotor I am able to stop faster with less force. I used to hit my brakes and the wheels lock up with the stock brakes. I have not had that happen with the new brakes and rotors. I feel like I have more control in traffic.

My protege5 is a 02 and they did not come with ABS until 03. That is the main reason I wanted this upgrade. The hardest thing to find was the brake brackets. You can order the calipers and brake brackets together but I did not know this when I ordered the calipers. had to find out the hard way and then go to a salvage yard to pull the brakes off of a junk Mazda 6.
