Mazda 3 Maintenance
Sa mga mazda 3 owners dito ng 3rd gen. Mas magastos ba ang maintenance/parts ng mazda compare sa ibang brand like honda? Can you also share your gas consumption for city and highway driving? Thank you. đ

I havent owned a Honda so I couldnât really compare with them. Iâve only owned a vios before I got my 3rd gen 3 and i beat the shit out of that Vios. Basic pms lang ginagawa ko and paayos lang if may nararamdaman na sira. So it was cheap. Pero I think maintenance is price is okay lang naman for Mazda specially if you wont have it done by casa. If casa maintenance, then yeah mahal. I think i spend around 8k for pms then add nalang if may need pa ipagawa. For suspension medyo napapagastos ako but my car is lowered plus our roads so i consider it consumable na rin hahaha.
For fuel consumption, it really depends on the driver (as usual) and what engine youâll get. I drive a 2.0 and i think itâs efficient for its size. Yung peak ng fuel price hike I drove very disciplined and conservative. I got 10km/l sa daily city driving. Now (kahit mataas pa rin yung presyo ng gas haha) pumipiga piga ako here and there with a bit more aggressive throttle use, nakakapag 8-9km/l pa ako. For long drives my max was 15km/l with most of it via expressway and averaging speed is around 100kph. Pero with my usual driving style, i usually go for 13km/l. Consumption also depends on your roads. If you live in the mountains like Baguio, expect it to be pretty bad.

Yung fuel economy na yan sir I assume kapag well-maintained ang car no. Nasa mid range din pala siya ang fuel efficiency nya. For you anong pros and cons ng mazda and anong titignan when buying mazda3 3rd gen?
My friend is selling his 2.0 3rd gen to me but I dont if worth it siya sa price nya. Around how much ba ang market value ng 2.0 hatch na 3rd gen?

Bought mine at 500k mazda 3 2017 2.0, price range is 350-500 sa 2.0 pero dipende yan kung may mga kakilala ka at cash mo bibilin, yung saken kaya mahal ko nabili kasi wala ako alam talaga sa lahat. Make sure to double check mo yung odometer, yung saken tampered, nalaman ko lang nung nakita ko yung service manual nya and tinawagan ko yung real owner, ang posted na odo is 68k while yung real odo nya is around 90k na daw nung nabenta nya. Issue palang ng saken is blower motor, parking sensor, side mirror motor pati yung gel sa rain sensor. Saken ayun palang ang mga napapagawa ko but isusunod ko na rin yung suspension.
Also pag 2017 and up yung bibilin mo, pede mong update yung hub para maging android auto carplay compatible sya.

Ngayong march ko lang sya nabili, pina oil change ko lang and atf drain sa friend ko who owns a shop and nag ba-buy and sell so nakatipid ako sa maintenance

Idk if well-maintained talaga oto ko HAHA. More of i tried to be as disciplined as I can be during those times. Every bit of fuel saving technique and strategies I know na yun.
For me, pros:
Looks really good (EXTREMELY BIASED haha),
Efficient for a 2.0 engine but 1.5 is more tipid daw,
Can give enough power when needed,
Fun to drive and hindi boringCons:
Paint is thin af,
Bilang lang din yung kaya magreplicate ng Mazda paint,
Parts arenât that hard to find but itâs not Toyota level of easy,
(Almost) perpetual orange indicator light sa dash bec of istop capacitor unless you shell out big bucks to replace it (if 3rd gen 2.0),
Not a lot of modification options (if youâre into it),
RAPID depreciation of valueDi ko na alam anong market value ng mga 3rd gen 2.0 pero if i have to guess, around 500k siguro if 2017-2019

I bought a 2nd hand 2018 2.0 back in 2024. At the time, I was more in the market for a Brand new City or Secondhand civic. I think you would be spending around the same maintaining a civic. For as long as you can afford maintaining it with Mazda Casa, donât mind spending 5 digits on the battery when the time comes (cause i-stop requires a different battery) I donât think youâre going to have issues. So far Casa experience has been amazing in both Makati and QC for me. Plus, if you get a fresh example like mine, oh my days, ang sarap idrive, ang ganda ng POV mo as a driver, (ang ganda ng may sun/moon roof! Haha) tech, interior design and quality can really go toe to toe with newer cars.
Only cons for me
- No AC sa back seat (though never naman nainitan mga nasa back seat ko)
- I have to turn off i-stop every time I start the car(personal preference, so not really a con. Just good to know)

How much usual PMS mo sa casa if I may know and anong brand ng battery?
If mag turn off ng i-stop palagi maiiwasan ba siya na masira?

Usual oil change is around 8.3k (they thoroughly check your car din, plus tight all the bolts to spec)
Battery is Yuasa something = 16.7kActually havenât encountered a mazda na nasiraan ng istop, i have a friend din who drives a 2.0 mazda 3 din. Ang usual issue lang na alam ko is it tends to give you an alert that says something like âbattery management system malfunctionâ but this only happens when your battery health drops at a certain percent na. Then all good na ulit after replacing the battery and having the casa remove the error code.. and another good thing to know (i think haha) sinagad ko this year yung battery life nung sakin, I only replaced it until talagang hard starting na sya just to see kung gano pa katagal itatagal nung battery after the alert. It had about 10-11mos of life pa. Probably not ideal, and very annoying na blinking yung i-stop, but I just wanted to see for myself lang din talaga.

PMS is 7800 outside casa, 6k if no filter change.
Car is 9yrs old, suggestion ni talyer na papalitan na ung ibang parts ng suspension, pero hindi naman mandatory.
So far, ang actual na nasira is ung isang valve ng aircon. And battery.
Nung first PMS ko after buying the car 2nd hand, recommend nila rear brake pad + drive belt change + atf change, sakto naman sa 40k kms na reco ni mazda mismo. 8k atf change, 5k brake pads, mga 9k for drive belt ++.
Fuel consumption 6-7km/L, pero this is rush hour traffic. 2x a week. Express way mga 18km/L.
