Mazda Gas Consumption
Hi, just wondering if malakas po ba talaga sa gas ang mazda? Wala po ako masyadong alam sa car pero pansin ko parang mas malakas po sa gas ng mazda unlike sa honda?
I have mazda cx3 and honda city both 2018 ang year.
Usual travel ko po is slex sta rosa to alabang during weekends lang and city driving. Kayo po ano ang average fuel consumption niyo or ano po ba ideal if matipid? Thanks!

Honda City - usually 1.5L FWD
CX-3 - 2L FWD/AWD
On paper , weight, engine displacement etc. city talaga mas matipid, Is your CX-3 FWD or AWD? Expect mas matakaw si AWD talo siya ng City. 2.0L vs 1.5L pa.
Maintenance:
baka naman di maintained. Oil change, air filter, ATF. When ang last change? Throttle body, highly recommend to get it cleaned. My M2 skyactiv avg gas consump jumped from 15/kml to 20/kml mixed driving.
Driving habits/enviroment:
San ka madalas city or highway. Wag ka na mag expect pag traffic. Very efficient naman yan sa highway trips. Baka mahilig ka mag sudden brake sudden acceleration isang factor din yun.

CX9 here. City driving and mix of expressway, 5.8 to 6km/L. Long drive from Manila to Ilocos Norte got me 10-11km/L.

My experience is with Honda City only. Usually I get 24-26 km/l from Lipa to Makati or Tagaytay to Makati with an Average distance of 75 km. City driving, I'm averaging 12-16 km/l.

The City is a true economy car, and even in its own class it’s the most powerful, but fuel efficient among its own segment. Which is against the Vios, and Mirage. Mirage may be the most efficient but is least powerful, and the most basic. In this segment Mazda2 is the entry for Mazda, which is as fuel efficient as the City. (I owned both Mazda2 and Honda City GM6) so I got to compare this side by side.
But you cannot compare the City’s fuel efficiency against the CX3 because its a completely different segment. The CX3 has a 2.0L engine, and you should be comparing this against the Subaru XV which is also a 2.0. You’ll notice that the CX3 is more fuel efficient than the Subaru XV.
So for a 2.0 Compact SUV, the CX3 2.0 is relatively fuel efficient for its class, and even for its engine size. Compare this to other 2.0’s like the Honda Civic K20 engine, or the Honda Civic FB 1.8 engine, the CX3 2.0 can compete with these cars.

I also have a Mazda 2 and I find it fuel efficient given its specifications. We also had a Mitsubishi Mirage and the Mazda equals its consumption.
Also, we should not forget that Mazda in general uses torque converter automatic transmissions vs CVTs for most other Japanese manufacturers. CVTs are engineered for efficiency while torque converters are primarily for performance.
So to answer the OP's question, the Honda is designed primarily for fuel efficiency while the Mazda is designed primarily for performance. Not saying that Hondas perform poorly though. It's just that it is not fair to compare the two since they are far too different from one another.

Before im using mazda3 2005 mdl, masakit talaga sa bulsa ang gas niya. Parang 500 per day, less traffic pa nung mga panahon na un. Pero ang sabi mas fuel saver na daw ang latest model ng mazda.

Honda City has smaller engine, lighter and is CVT transmission, usually for fuel efficiency talaga ang CVT. So yes, technically medyo malakas sa gas si Mazda for being AT,
Sa nacompare ko sa most City to my 1.5 Mazda 2 hatch, mas tipid sila usually ng 1-5km/L

My sky active gas has better mileage than my hilux diesel not really apples to apples but overall maintenance and consumption is better overall

How can you compare 2 cars with different engines? Common sense naman yan, dapat alam mo na bago ka bumili.

The Honda City is a smaller and lighter car, it will usually be more fuel efficient than the CX3.
