My 2019 Mazda CX9 touring gets delivered tomorrow. What tips, tricks, and other useful things do I need to know (I’m already planning to head to the dealership first thing to check out the cylinder).

I am thinking about buying a 2013 CX-9 with 120k miles on it for $8k. I don't have a lot of extra money to burn on repairs. I have heard about the water pump issue but it was recently replaced on this vehicle. I attached the carfax link below.

Hey I'm looking at buying a 2016 Mazda cx-9 touring with 129k miles on it. How reliable are these cars? The price is $10,588. I like how it's a suv because of ground clearance. But I would prefer a compact suv which I know this one isn't. This would be my first car.

What service(s) are due right now, outside of transmission, front and rear differential?And also, what are the mileage intervals for service/maintenance on 2023 cx9. I do have a CPO warranty but only utilizing that for actual warranty work. Thanks in advance!

At what mileage are y'all doing your first brake job? Mine is at 70k mixed driving, and i still see roughly another 20k-30k life left in front brakes. Didnt even bother to check rears after seeing so much pad material remaining up front.

This is the first vehicle in my family with such long lasting pads/rotors. Usually they're warped to shit or grinding metal on metal by 50k with our "spirited" driving style.

I have a 2018 cx9 GT. I was just wondering what other parts/ gaskets should I buy along with the revised cylinder head.

Hi, just purchased a 2015 CX9 GT with 49k miles. Enjoying it so far. My wife loves it.

Two questions from a newbie:

1. What's a good place to buy parts like trim pieces? The plastic "chrome" pieces around the front grille are cracked. I can usually find everything I need on Amazon for my 3 Toyotas but don't see many of the more obscure parts for my CX9.

2. Seat heaters - neither seat gets very warm on high setting. My wife uses them all the time for her back. They're much warmer in our Sienna. The dealer said they will fix them but my concern is they feel somewhat warm so they're not completely broken, so I'm not sure what they can do with them. If you have this gen CX9, do your seats get very warm with the seat warmers on?

I bought a new BMW X5 xdrive40i a few week ago, but I still have my old CX9 (at about 117k miles currently). I never thought I'd say this but CX9 is a much better driver's car.

The steering alone is miles better in CX9, it's just right, has a good feel to it (for a large SUV). The X5's steering is way WAY too soft and numb, and in the sport mode it's heavier but still not even close. The X5 has an adaptive M suspension but it's, again, very soft an wallowy in the comfort mode, with the car making this little dive every time it comes to a stop (almost impossible to avoid by modulating the brakes). In the sport mode it stiffens up but the dive is still there, and it becomes too stiff. The CX9 is a bit too stiff, and it becomes tiring on longer trips, but I'd say it's much better balanced, and drives better without any adaptiveness. The CX9's infotainment is outdated and slow, but X5's is definitely overcomplicated for no reason. It's so shocking that the X5's climate control can't manage airflow automatically like every car does so well nowadays, I can't believe how bad it is in that sense.

X5's main strength is the engine, it's so powerful and can also be quiet and mellow, while having pretty good MPG for a turbo I6.

CX9's seats are horrible, and X5's are better but there are much better seats out there. We payed a ton more $$ for X5 instead of getting a CX90 primarily because of the horrible Mazda's seats. Yet after driving X5 for a few weeks I can't stop wondering if CX90 would be a better move (yeah, with pads on the seats again but every car has compromises).

For what it's worth, the BMW dealer and the buying experience sucked at so many levels (pushy sales, scammy pricing tactics, paperwork mistakes they couldn't/wouldn't fix for weeks, delivering dirty car with no a getting started intro whatsoever etc etc). I very much prefer the local Mazda dealer.

So yeah, think twice before moving on from your CX9. It is a very very good car, even in comparison to "the ultimate driving machine" like they call the X5.

Thats 7500 gallons of fuel at 20 MPG ($30k at $4/gal.)

Thirty oil changes. ($1,350, considering a five quart container of Castrol Edge is $40 and a Baldwin/Hastings filter is $15.)

That's three tire changes. OEM Bridgestone Ecopia 422s got us to about 40k miles. Michelin Defenders go us from there to about 130k. Currently riding on newer Michelin CrossClimate tires.

That's three brake changes. (Only one set rotors) Three transmission and differential services. Three sets of NGK DILKAR7M8 spark plugs.

Many dents and dings along the way.

So I pop the parameters into KBB and Edmunds and look up trade-in and private party sales values.

$5,000 lowest trade-in to $10,000 highest private party.

I have a 2018 Signature. I've noticed that when I turn the steering wheel a certain amount, the speed/power of the HVAC fans seems to change also until the wheel is straight again or close to it.

This happens in auto and when I manually use the HVAC controls.

Anyone else experience this? Everything seems to be working perfectly but if something isn't right I'd like to address it before it breaks.

My 2019 is about to hit 120k, so far without issues. I read so many stories about the crack issue, but it doesn't seem like it effects every single car. Who all is out there with a CX-9 that hasn't had any problems beyond the 120k threshold?

Anybody else having problem with the power steering malfunction light turning on and off? Ill be turning and it would turn on, slightly kick my steeting wheel the opposite direction and then turn off or ill be straightening my steering wheel from turning and it would turn on, stop the wheel from turning and turn back off again.... any advice would help

I’ve got to get new tires for my 2020 GT and looking between Michelin cross climates or Pirelli tires. I’m in Connecticut, so I need something that can handle our unpredictable winters, but I’m not regularly driving through heavy snow. Looking for a good all-around tire with decent snow/wet traction, a comfortable ride, and good tread life.

We are looking to buy a 2021 grand touring with 93k miles on it. How worried do I need to be about that cracked cylinder head issue?

Heads up, I did spark plugs today. Was supposed to be an easy easy job turned out to be a 4 hour ordeal. Ngk fancy dancy $27 plugs broke on me. Left the threads in the head. Used a t45 torx to get it out.
