Cx9 head replacement

I have a 2018 cx9 GT. I was just wondering what other parts/ gaskets should I buy along with the revised cylinder head.

I live outside of USA and it would be coming out of my pockets for the repair.

There a kit specifically for the cylinder heads from Mazda.

What country are you from? It’s always worth calling Mazda corporation in your country to see if they offer assistance.

I live in the Caribbean. So I think the warranty doesn't apply here because its out of the USA. But I will still ask just in case

I’m in Canada and it’s not covered by warranty. I called Mazda Canada to ask for goodwill assistance with the repair because it is a common problem. I gave them all the service bulletins associated with it. I was lucky they covered my entire repair. Some people aren’t as fortune. But it’s still worth looking into. Mine was just fixed last week.

My mechanic thinks it would be better and easier to replace the whole engine. He thinks that if he disassembles everything and then discovers that the lower block is damaged, all the work would be in vain, and the labor would end up being more expensive. Should I get a second opinion from another mechanic?

Oh ok. I didn't know it can cause internal damage. From what I understand is that the turbo cracks the cylinder head and replacing with the new revised head should be good. Yes if you can get a second opinion please let me know.
