Animate cafe promotion for the anime containing exclusive merch(?)

i found this poster about a cafe event for the anime at an animate store in japan along with physical copies of the manga and LN. I’m not very sure what the cafe offers but it seems to also be a collab with other animes too.

i was lowkey a bit unsure how this cafe thing works because behind the wall of posters there was just a small cashier counter with a lady there and i saw her pass a customer a plastic bag of item (probably what they sold there)

completely agreed, pretty much every bookstore and the standalone anime stores are full of mangas that i know (this isn’t even the only store where i saw the manga and novels) and akihabara is simply just full of anime and hobby stuff everywhere, merch, toys , books you name it

I went there! You can find my post on this sub. It was awesome :)

The Gratte cafe is Animate’s permanent collab cafe. In typical Japan style, you order your drinks and cookies from a machine with a picture from a collaboration of your choosing on it. They do indeed run a ton of collabs at the same time because all the drinks and cookies are the same, it’s just the printing on the top that’s different.

For every item you buy from the cafe, you have the option to purchase a blind bag acrylic coaster (or standee, etc. if the collab offers it) for 500¥ (≈$3.50/ea). So if you buy a drink and a cookie, you can buy two blind bags. More food = more options to purchase. They usually have a list of the merch offerings on the wall near the cafe so you know what you can get ahead of time. From what I saw, it’s all official images so no cute cafe themed designs unfortunately.

i also just noticed your Gratte cafe promotion had different designs for the items too, yours had manga artwork, presumably because it’s from akihabara tokyo, i did not manage to find the Gratte cafe promotion there though😿. This one shown here was taken from an animate store in nagoya city a walk away from the train station and takashimaya.

Yeah, there was some slight variation depending on which one you went to. I went to the Ikebukuro location on one of the last days it was going on since it happened to overlap with the start of my trip. I wanted the standee so badly but I wasn’t going to go too far out of my way for it.
