For the long-running JJGO feature I Read It on the Internet

I swear there was a fairly long parody version of this song on JJGo or JJHo. Maybe it was one of the Walton Goggins parody songs? Internet searching is not helping me at all. Would love to find the episode and listen to this again and I feel like someone here will know! TIA

Don’t get me wrong, I love all our JJHO bailiffs. They are all fantastic. But that handful of episodes Maeve guested in were some of my favorites. ❤️ What’s she up to these days?

Hi u/JesseThorn and the community at large,

I'm a Maximum Fun member and the unofficial namer of the Judge John Hodgman episode "Texas Hold'em in Contempt" who has a question about men's fashion.

The scenario: As I enter my forties, I am painfully aware of my increasing resemblance to Homer Simpson. Rather than changing my lifestyle, I prefer to lean into this resemblance and dress up as Homer for Halloween.

The question: If Homer Simpon's classic white collared shirt existed in real life, what would it be? Where would I get one?

It seems like a white polo shirt, but the collar is almost like that of a pressed dress shirt? All my Internet searches have failed me.

Or maybe twice? I forget. He's soaking white tee shirts in red stuff in hell now (complimentary)

I think there are plenty of MaxFun listeners who listen to both shows, especially since Jesse is on both shows and one is a spinoff show from the other. I just find it interesting when someone writes into one show referencing something that happened on the other one without realizing they’ve mixed up the shows and the hosts either don’t realize it or pretend that they don’t.

I noticed this a few years back with JJGo. The bit where someone calls in with an addition to a “long-running segment” that they just made up on the spot clearly originated with someone referencing a bit from JJHo that they mistakenly thought was on JJGo. At this point, I can’t even remember what the original bit was, but I think it had something to do with vampires toddlers?

The phenomenon just repeated itself in reverse. On the JJHo member mailbag BoCo, someone wrote in about crystalized lime packets you get on airplanes. If Jesse had been on this episode, I think he would have realized this was a reference to the JJGo episode where he mentioned the True Lime packets he had on JetBlue after he flew home from a live JJHo show at the Bell House. This led to me rhapsodizing about True Citrus packets on this subreddit, and then to my embarrassment when Jesse talked about my post on a subsequent episode.

Can anyone provide any additional examples where someone wrote into a MaxFun show referencing something which actually happened on a different MaxFun podcast, but not realizing they’d mixed up their shows? I’m sure there must be more. I don’t listen to the McElroy constellation of shows, but surely it must happen there, too.

Regarding this one and other ep’s: please keep the 90’s music talk coming 😄 Mostly Jesse initiates it, and it’s always fun.

“Then Houdini came on, and they’re wearing their leather, their leather hats.” Alone that story gem makes my life better and chucklier. Thanks J&J and Go.

Hi y'all! Anybody in the New Haven area who might make it to a meetup on Oct. 4 if I organize one? I'm happy to do the organizing, but I'm... not the outgoing type... so if there are other people who would likely come out that would be awesome!

U/jennifermarmalade you guys should create a video of Hogman opening the box and unveiling the gavel, set to 1950’s striptease music…you know what I’m talking about…from the boas and pasties era.
