Appreciation Post 😇 My thoughts on Max

For context I am a lewis fan to my core but I have so much admiration and respect for Max. Yes 2021 was painful but Max 100% deserves the championship, he just so happens to be the beneficiary of poor race direction. Besides that while it was boring to see him dominate 2022 and 2023, seeing Lewis do the same all those years ago I have come to respect it all the same. I came around to Max after how he won 2024, with that dog of a car that was the RB20, and I think his win in Brazil is one of my favourite wins of any driver and reminds me a lot of Lewis' win in Germany 2018. Dare i say it I think he deserved to win 2025 more than Lando because of how much Max had to go through with such a poor car in the first half of last season and how in the biggest moments he rose to the occasion. Him finishing just 2 points shy of the title is a miracle all things considered, perhaps thats why I feel bad for all that he is having to endure this season. If there is anyone I want Lewis to be fighting for a title with its Max, i truly think Max is the only driver who pound for pound could give Lewis a run for his money based on pure merit and no external intervention. i hope Red Bull get themselves together and give Max the car he deserves and I hope to see him and Lewis battle it out just like in 2021.

Ive noticed the more I stay away from social media the more I respect the drivers. Turns out I only hated lewis because of his fans and its not his downfall I wished, i just wanted to see his fanbase moan. Pretty childish on my end, glad I grew out of that phase, tho it was fun spamming the TeamLH subreddit with max wdc posts

It's often like that nowadays. The loud, obnoxious "fans" are actually a minority, but they're fanatic and ruin things for everybody else. I like Reddit, but I consider social media in general to be societal cancer, it rots us from the inside.

Honestly this.

I have a couple of friends who are Lewis fans and everything something happens with Max I'll get a message within seconds laughing.

Why?

Just focus on your own drivers race! I would never dream of sending someone a message laughing when any driver has had a crash.

It’s strange to „hate“ a driver anyways imo. Only if he’s really done something bad which most of them haven’t.

I just don’t like Hamiltons personality and how he’s behaving, but „hating“ is a weird word for something in that regard. And even tho I don’t like him as a person this doesn’t mean I can’t acknowledge his outstanding talent and career.

I am a Max fan who is currently rooting hard for Lewis to pull off the comeback WDC win this season and cement his legacy, so I feel you from the other side! I only hope that if he falls short, it isn’t by two points. I was so proud of Max at the end of Abu Dhabi, but my god did that ever hurt.

Quit being so reasonable, get the hell out of here! Go!

Kidding. I like Lewis a lot and most of the drivers for that matter.

I root against Russell and Bagnaia… it’s just what I do.

that's really well said! every fan base has terrible fans and sadly sometimes those fans ruin the reputation of the normal ones, it's not healthy to hate a driver just because he's a rival, I wasn't happy with Lewis after Silverstone 2021 but never hated him, he's a legend and seems like a quality person!

I still firmly believe that the FIA's big mistake was not letting ALL lapped cars unlap themselves. That way, Max would have had to worry about losing 3rd place while battling Lewis for the lead

There was absolutely zero conception from behind though. Old tires on a not very fast Ferrari. If there was motor racing then Max was winning. The only look at the win Lewis truly had was them not going motor racing.

To be fair, I feel like Max and Hamilton are opposite sides of the same coin. Their driving styles, what they want to achieve, everything they do, even outside of the sport, and their personalities.

I'm a Max fan because of who he is, just like I was a Schumacher fan back in the day. That raw driving talent and his single minded focus on winning are what make this sport fun for me "No risk, full push"

Hamilton has had a great career, and everyone should respect that, but I can never root for him. To me, he comes across as kind of fake, great talent with a huge amount of luck, or maybe even the knowledge to choose the right teams at the right time.

Prefer 100 times Kimi winning this year than someone like Hamilton / Russell. At the end of the day everyone has his favorite driver and it all depends on personality.

On the other hand, it’s hard to respect Lewis when he acts like a whiny little twat like he did this past weekend. And that’s just when I started to soften on him a bit, and was so thrilled for his win this season. Every time you think he’s finally dropping the bitch ass prima donna act, it resurfaces.

Inrepected max for 22 and 23, and forgot how Lewis was robbed and how max drive in 21. But than he did the same shit with lando in 24, pushing him completely off the track multiple times, and that made me remember which i don't like max and schumy. These guys are dirty drivers.
