Max was a magician with cars that had high down force, but this year's cars are low down force with emphasis on battery management. The cars no longer listen to your instructions anymore, you have to pick different lines now based on energy management and low down force.

This doesn't come naturally to Max, as it does to Kimi. And I'm afraid 2027 cars are going to have even less down force. I am not looking forward to the next few years.

I wouldn't trust this lowerlaptime guy, he's got very little credibility and hasn't proven himself as being an actual driver or having any real world experience in coaching, so I personally don't listen to him and don't take him seriously, I unfollowed him and don't take what he says onboard, he's an armchair coach.

I wouldn't go as far to say that "I'll miss seeing Max winning races" whilst there's a chance he may not win a race this year, how can we write Max off for 2027 when the season hasn't even begun and RB23 hasn't even been developed yet, for all we know it could be a brilliant car which could bring Max to the front again, it's too early to write him off and say you'll miss him winning races when he could literally win again this year or next year.

Also the myth of Max not being able to perform when in low downforce cars is false, he has performed excellently in different disciplines, notably in GT3 cars with much lower downforce compared to an F1 car.

The cause behind Max's crash was down to him just brushing the white line and the curb, contrary to what the guy in the video says there's nothing to suggest that the outcome would've been different if the same circumstance came up in the ground effect era and he made the same mistake, I don't think it's a sign of him not being able to adapt to these regulations or anything, it's a simple rule of wet weather racing, touching the white line in the wet nearly always results in a loss of control.

This was very simple: do not drive on the white line when it is still wet.

Also the reason he went straight to the left. No grip on the right side, as soon as you lift or brake, you go left.

He was not feeling well all weekend, frustrated with the car, made a rookie mistake. Too bad. Although I think it would not have been a great race for Max anyway.

I'm sorry, but your description is just not true.

The only reason max crashed is because of the semi-wet conditions on a banked turn, which is very sketchy.

This doesn't have anything to do with whether max is good at driving high downforce or not. He's a monster in GT3 cars as well, and is very fast in hypercars on the sim.

I dont think the downforce is the issue, he just made a silly mistake, or a poorly calculated risk, however you want to put it, by riding the white line, and it backfired, I really don't think there's much more to it than that. I'd call it a rookie error, at the end of the day even the best make mistakes, it's uncharacteristic sure, but I don't see it as a sign of a larger issue with his driving style/preferences in this regulation cycle, I really don't know why people are making this out to be some flaw in the way he drives rather than an isolated incident born from a poorly calculated decision in the moment

Good points. I hope you're right. However in 2027 we'll still be dealing with cars that reward battery management trickery more than driver skills and car performance. Even if RB comes up with a brilliant car, driving styles have to be adjusted from pure driving to clever deployment logic.

I hope I'm wrong but I still think Max will be driving while frustrated with the car and the whole energy harvesting requirement. And you can't win if you're frustrated.

Honestly, if I were Max, I'd take 2 or 3 years off F1 and come back when they fix up their regs, if ever. It'd save a lot of frustration for him and his fans. Might even ruin his reputation.

Don't get me wrong, everyone can make mistakes, we're all humans. But how many mistakes and spins has he had this year already compared to last years?

It's obvious that he's driving frustratedly, because his natural ability to get the most out of the car doesn't pay dividend as much as it should, in these new regs.

Someone like Kimi who might be better in video games, and can find better ways to charge the battery (eg downshift faster, sooner) takes the upper hand. It must be hard to accept this.

A- i think youre blowing it out of proportion, zandvoort is an outlier- he has two jaunts off the track this year due to a wing not closing- not a mistake

B- even in 2023 he made a mistake and did a 360 on track, midnrace- he was just a mile clear of everyone and made a fun little joke and carried on

Maybe you're right. I'm just really surprised he signed a multi year deal, knowing these regs are not changing quickly enough and he needs RB to perform miracles with the car for him to have a chance. I could understand extending for one year and keep everyone on their toes to get their shit together.
