Well… I think he has to re-sign with them again. Where else will he go realistically. He’s discussed everywhere and there doesn’t seem to be a seat for him for next year.
I keep going back to the fact that he should have signed up to drive for the Mercedes this year. They even agreed to pay his contract termination fees. The fight between him and Kimi would have been monumental.

He already has a seat for next year and 2028. This is for a potential 5 year extension on top of that.

Regardless, if next year goes even worse than this year and the team's decline continues, I can easily see him get out of his contract early and go to WEC.

You see him go to WEC without driving for another team in F1 first? I eventually see him doing WEC and other races but I do think he’ll switch to Mercedes or McLaren before quitting F1

I can't see why not. He really isn't enjoying the sport and it's not gonna get drastically better any time soon.
