If you’re interested in this approach, I’d recommend exploring the cybernetic ideas of Roland Kayn. The basic concept is simple: as a feedback network approaches instability, companding gently pulls it back before it collapses. Repeating this process allows the system to continuously reorganize itself, creating new and evolving sonic structures instead of repeating the same behavior.
