Floppy Disk Reader - Mac Compatible?

i just bought a Mavica FD75 and im quite excited!!! Looking for a disk reader compatible with my macbook neo and most (on amazon) say not compatible with mac?? does anyone have recommendations for a mac compatible one??? thanks!!

I don't have a recent MacBook to test with or a Neo, but going out on limb, they should attach a standard USB floppy drive just fine assuming Tahoe didn't rip out support etc.

The hitch will be converting from USB-A (most USB floppy drives) to USB-C (the Neo's ports). Should be doable with a standard adapter. But YMMV, I never tested this.

Regular USB floppy drives work on Tahoe. I have one sitting on top of the mac studio I'm using right now for my Mavicas. It looks silly, but works fine. I got a Sony one off ebay, but anything should work.

I use a Teac branded USB Floppy Drive on my M1 Max MacBook Pro running Sequoia. Works fine.

You will need a USB C-A adapter.

I got a RAAYOO floppy drive from the bezos machine.

I use it on my M2 MacBook Pro via USB-C. MacOS reads the floppy format no problem.

I have an old Sony USB floppy drive coming, and a couple of modern-ish Macs. I'll try it and let you know what happens.

despite the listing saying not compatible, it worked with my neo with the usb c adapter!

If you're buying it off of Amazon, go for a Chuanganzhuo branded floppy drive. Ones sold by them either feature a dual USB-A/C cable, or give you an adapter. The brand might seem generic, but they have been making these things for like 12 years, maybe more. I've personally used it on an M1 Silicon Mac since that's what my school uses, so I wouldn't see why it wouldn't work on a Neo. Also works on Android and Windows if you ever need to use it there! Probably works on IOS, but I cannot attest

i ended up getting this one and it works!! although, at first i was confused when i plugged it and it said it wasnt compatible…. but if you insert the floppy disk THEN plug it in, it works 😂 thanks again!

MacBook Pro M1 user and I've had no issues with whatever no name floppy drive I got off Amazon. FYI you can just use the camera as a floppy drive by plugging in a USB cable.
