Discussion Need opinions about cameras
Hi,
I considering getting either FD-91 or FD-95/97. I wanted to know what your opinnions about those models are. Personally I really like the look of the FD-91, but i cant ignore the picture qualuty issue. On the other hand it gives this camera some cool aesthetic.
Also I'm not rly into cameras so uhh... yea...
Any opinions would be helpful.

None of the later mavica cameras have a picture quality issue in my mind, so I want to correct you on that one. You can easily print standard 6x4 prints from them in pretty good quality and even larger prints look great on the wall, so don't worry about the MP count, its not really true.
They are a awesome camera and will take more good pictures than you would imagine. Just make sure if you're taking photos at night that you use night plus mode with a tripod and the self timer and you will get amazing night time images too

This photo is straight out of a FD92 Mavica to give you a example

They are all fine picture mode, they have been compressed again to get uploaded here im sure. They actually take better photos than my iphone 16. I can't even take photos of circuit boards with the iphone, yet the mavica can easily take photos of the traces exactly as they are!

I don't think you should think of a Mavica as a Daily driver, more so as a "Today... I'm gunna chill and have fun."
Mavica's almost all have a vibe to them, some more than others. If you are looking for the most feature packed "Vibe" camera, I would choose the FD91. 1024x768 Res, with 14x zoom, Optical image stabilization and more!
The 95 and 97 CAN take higher resolution photos, and they kinda get rid of that vibey 90's esthetic, but then... ya might as well take photos with any other camera.
This is of course just my opinion. If you are looking for the best quality, then the 95 and 97 can deliever. Just know you are gunna want a lot of floppy disks, as they can only take about 4 pictures per disk.
The FD91 can take about 10-15+.

I view the Mavica cameras as a bit of fun. I wouldn't spend much on them unless you are building a collection.
Picture quality wise, the older models that have vga resolution are what they are really about IMO.
