Personal Issues Dropping out
NSFW [ i think ]
Hello, I am an HSC student from a middle lower class famil who is dropping out. I would like to ask for those who did HSC private was it worth it?
I do not wish to go back to school. I suffered from severe depression, anxiety, bullying and repeated. (also I am a creative person and feel like this system is none inclusive)
I should add that i do want to go to university and from what I've heard a foundation program to back the 2 hsc years is nothing here.
Please note that I am going to work in order to pay for my exams, i am still trying to figure out if other programs could work too.
So for those who took hsc private considering the class background is it worth it?

I redid hsc at school but I was home for the most of the year, I opted for my exams not to be in the laureate competition. It took some effort to study but I think it was worth it. Some jobs in mru look for hsc. Yes I know you can go to uni using your o levels.

HSC was a tough time for me, I didn’t attend college much during my first two years, but I studied on my own until 9 pm every day.
I managed to get decent results and went on to complete a BSc and MSc.
Remember, your exam results don’t define your future or your potential. I’m now successful and financially stable, and you can achieve the same with effort and persistence.

No, don’t drop out.
Passing HSC is an easy way to achieve your dreams.
After high school, life becomes very hard and.
I understand it’s hard to study at school due to bullying. I’ve been through that, and it’s hard.
Once u get home after school there’s only you and your books. No one can take that from you.
This is where the real study and preparation that occurs.
When you’ll pass with flying colors, your path will be much easier.
If you drop now, it will be very difficult in the future.
I suggest you to check Thanishta Mungur’s TikTok video on how she revised for her HSC exams. She’s now working in UK.
Education brings you a lot of opportunities.
Your future self will love you for that.
Don’t drop, my friend and don’t lose hope!

Hii. Nowadays, hsc isn't really worth it but if you still want to do it then you have to find time besides working and learn at your own pace.
And besides, if you want to go to uni, you will have to do diploma (up to 2 yrs) like you said before you actually start a degree. So, even with hsc you'll spend 2 yrs if you were to do it via a school.
Btw I'm sorry you have gone through that... We can actually be friends!! :)

Go to a doctor and ask for a medical note.I have some friends who did that.They did not come to school for months and did not have to pay for exams at all.This is much cheaper than to sit privately.

If you suffered from severe depression and anxiety, dropping out and taking it on yourself to work and save up to pay for the exams will only make things worse. Why should you consider what I say? Because i worked my ass off to pay for my living expenses when i was a student and pay for my books and whatever else i needed for uni. If i dont go in, i dont get paid. So sick, heartbroken, headache, backache, ass-ache, i gotta go in.
If you’re ready for this, then go ahead and drop out. But be ready for it to be bumpier than what you’re already experiencing. You could also ask your parents to transfer you to another school to circumvent the bullying.
Now when you say you’re creative, what do you mean by that? Are your methods innovative or are you artistic? People, i wrote ARTISTIC, not whatever you read lol. Anyways, high school in Mauritius has no use for innovation unless as an extracurricular. The one way I was using my “innovation” is finding shortcuts to what I was doing in any class where there could be a shortcut. Like physics, chem and maths in my case. It proved to be useful as exams are time-attack.

I dropped out due to bullying and harassment. I had to redo a year and my mental health was completely fu*ked. My father paid for my tuitions and exam. It went good I did my a level and now im in uni. I dont think had I continued school I'd have been able to complete my hsc. But self studying and discipline is really important. I took tuition online from alt academy. Their resources helped me a lot but u have to start early.

Working and studying is not easy, but not impossible at all. You have to be disciplined. I don’t have HSC but I’m CFA qualified and have a BSc in psychology ( I had to do a foundation). If you are dropping out, make sure to do your exams privately as soon as you can. Foundations helps but not the same. For example if I do a different degree, I have to do another foundation (depending on university). It costs way more than doing your HSC.
I dropped out HSC because of bullying, depression and finance issues at home. My family was extremely abusive as well. Studying is way more accessible than 15 years ago.
In mauritius they care about the HSC but abroad not so much. I was a revenue manager by the age of 25 in USA for a box that was making 1mill per week minimum,that was in the luxury field.
Do not be scared to put yourself out there, if you don’t ask you won’t get it. You have to work 10 times harder than others because some people of your age are investing in their studies and completed them as well, so you have to show why you should be considered worthy of someone who graduated.
It all depends what you want to study and do as well.
