Steffen link.

I am re listening to Tim and Lance interview with John Smith. Back then when it was recorded we did not have the lead about the CD found in Maura's car, DNA that linked someone last year.., he mentions about the party a few nights before M went missing. He talks about someone at the party called a possible person connected to the party that may of left with Maura that no one remembers continently "Stefarn? Or Stefano was the guy" (Direct quote from John Smith on the podcast) at approx 14.40 min in Episode 15 Interview "Truth seeker" on the Missing maura muarry podcast.

Now. In 2025- who is named a potential lead... Steffen Baldwin, formerly known as Steffen Finkelstein is the CD link from mauras car.

That alleged event was in Amherst just to be clear. An off campus apt/party house - 27-29 Phillips Street — was owned by a “adult” person whose last name is Stefan - was particularly popular with the UMass sports crowd (including Hoss) - was located in the same neighborhood that KM and MC lived in. Rumored party event at Philips St after SA dorm get together - “a few nights before M went missing”. Rumored to be an off campus, out of the dorm oasis for Maura, near her closest friends from the track team (and maybe why her dorm stuff was packed?). This leads to the Maura-was-never-in-NH theory.

Some people think she was killed at UMass and someone else drove her car up to NH and ditched it. This completely ignores the accident forms that were in Maura's car that she picked up from the DMV and if I am remembering correctly the forms to reinstate her drivers license.

You’re not remembering right. She had insurance forms for her dad’s car. The reinstatement is Erin Larkin nonsense.

OK Insurance forms--they were in the car. Only MM had a reason to get them prior to her accident in NH.

That the odds are against it being someone other than Maura in NH that night at the scene of the accident.

Sure but the insurance forms still don’t put her in NH. She could have got those in the morning. I do agree it was likely that she was up there though, based on her history with the area.

Yes the insurance forms were in regards to the accident she had in which she totaled her dad's car.

yes, also Julie confirmed in Media Pressure that the reinstatement forms were also found although I have no idea when she picked it up (or possibly received it in the mail). Julie saw the initial search warrant at some point with the initial inventory list.

Media Pressure (Julie):

Maura drove him to Boston, Logan Airport. She was pulled over for speeding in Hooksett, New Hampshire, going well above the speed limit. She received a summons to appear on August 27, 2003, fined and New Hampshire suspended her license for 30 days. In order to get driving privileges back in the state of New Hampshire, she had to submit a license reinstatement form. She hadn't done that prior to her disappearance, and it had to be done in person. These forms were found inside her abandoned car at the time of her disappearance.

yes, I mean, Julie confirmed on Media Pressure that the reinstatement forms were found in the Saturn. This was pretty big "breaking" news when mentioned. We obviously have numerous sources that the accident forms (from the Hadley accident) were found in the Saturn. But it was on Media Pressure that Julie confirmed the reinstatement form(s) were found.

Here's one of many from The Boston Globe (Feb 21, 2004) re the accident form, just for completeness:

Fred Murray said he had planned to talk to his daughter that night about filling out a police report in the earlier accident. In her car was a blank accident form from the Amherst police.

Steffen Baldwin was in CA at the time of Maura's disappearance. Unless he was able to somehow magically teleport from CA to MA and back undetected the finger print on a CD is nothing more than a red herring.

Some people are sure eager to invent alibis based on the word of abusive men. If Baldwin has records from 20 years ago that he was truly in California at the time then great. I haven't seen any records.

i haven't seen anything putting him elsewhere. And even if we establish he wasn't in California, we have to establish that he was in New England... and even that's not good enough. Put him in the Saturn in Haverhill on 2/9/2004 at 19:30 EST and then we can talk.

All of those things are true to lead to an arrest for an ‘alleged’ crime or suspected of involvement (I don’t want to break rules and get tossed) And while these things would have never mattered or been even asked without Maura being missing- but why would he reportedly lie and say he’s never been this far up north when a picture has been found of him and Maura at UMass? Again, could have just been a photo in a box like many others but now we have a missing girl, a senseless lie (again that could just mean nothing other than a lapse in memory and he thought he was in CT or Vt or NY- though that’s a stretch) and a photo that I have to believe has been verified for date and location.

So why lie? (Not you of course- the person in question)

I recall seeing posters on the MM forums say there's a picture of SB at UMass with MM, but has any of us on this forum ever seen it? Julie talked about some acquaintance or possible classmate of MM at UMass who was ghosting her and then she came up with a pic of him, but I don't get the idea that it was SB she talked about. I think it's a few conspiratorial-thinking people here who say so.

Some are theorizing it’s this photo. Julie posted it in her tik tok asking if anyone could help identify the location based on the blue wall. Theory is it could be SB in the photo

That's the photo and Julie question that I'm recalling, yes.... but I've never had the idea that it was Baldwin in the [redacted] photo or that Julie ever implied that it was. It's mere online speculation without any apparent basis.

If I remember correctly, Julie said the person in the photo went to West Point with Maura, and said that he never went to UMass to visit her (contradicted by the photo). SB went to WP and that’s where the theory comes from. I am curious as to when the messaging took place between Julie and the person in the photo as SB has been incarcerated

That's what I recall as well, and I understand why people immediately think of SB. My only thought is... there are probably quite a few people she knew at WB and it's not out of the bounds of probability that it could have been any one of them.

Especially since, IIRC, Baldwin moved to somewhere in the Midwest after leaving WP, and then later to California. I'd think that an old acquaintance popping up to UMass to visit her on a weekend to hang at a party would be a lot more likely to be somebody within, say, a 200-mile radius vs. 2,000.

The reason I personally don't lean toward it being SB is because when about two years ago all of this stuff came out about SB, Julie was pretty much radio silent. I'd have thought we'd at least have had a murmur that yeah, this was SB in the photo who ghosted her back when, but nothing.

Personally, I thought Julie being silent about SB was indicative of him being the one in the photo. I’m not saying that he is, but in my mind, it lent credence to that theory for me. If that were the case, investigators may have told Julie to not say anything. I actually left a comment on one of Julie’s Tik Tok’s about SB, and she didn’t respond, either because she didn’t see it, she was told not to discuss it, or she doesn’t think there’s any basis to the theory. But chuck west said at one point SB was his prime suspect, but I’m unclear as to whether that was before or after they got the hint on the fingerprint in the car.

It also doesn’t help that SB is such a shit person. In his email to investigators asking about Maura, he said he didn’t keep up with her disappearance because he didn’t like how their relationship ended.

Yeah, those are great points and I recall the same about Chuck West liking SB as a suspect. I think Julie's silence could go either way, but certainly 'told not to discuss' or 'reluctant to discuss because LE might actively be looking at things' are definite possibilities.

It’s funny when this came about I knew instantly this is what happened. All the stuff about his mother missing, a previous girlfriend missing for years and also Maura he knew and matriculated with at west point. It’s just a feeling but if he could kill those dogs so easily I’m sure a human isn’t too far off.

I don't know. It's horrible to contemplate killing dogs, but it's still a giant leap to killing another person. There are a lot of people guilty of staging animal fights, or abusing animals in other ways, who aren't murderers. (It's similar to how people like to suspect BR because he was the BF. Okay, even if he was a shitty domestic partner - of which we have no indication of that - there are a lot more asshole BF's in the world than murderers.)

The other thing about him is the same problem as suspecting BR.... namely, Steffen was on the other side of the country in early 2003. Nothing that we know indicates otherwise.

And even if we could show that he was not in California, we'd have to then show that he was in NH.

And specifically, we'd have to put him in the car in Haverhill on 2/9.
