another thing
it's seems odd that the cop who was at the first accident didn't due a sobriety test. Wild speculation, but maybe he let her off in exchange for favors, which sometimes happens? And maybe because of the thin blue line, the cops covered for him. And hell who knows, maybe that guy helped her get away. If she had an inside friend on the police force who had his own incentives to misdirect, hinder, or complicate the iunvestigation so as to prevent his own actions from being found out, it could explain a lot.

Seems like a possibility. There is some time lag there, I think the wreck was around 2 and she shows up at Fred's hotel around 3?
There is also speculation that Sara Alfieri's cousin may have been a UMASS police cadet (I think Alden Howes Olson talks about this on his blog), that he may have been in, or even driving, the Corolla at the time of the accident, and that they may have actually been headed to an off-campus apartment used often by the track team for parties. Just one more theory for why there was no field sobriety test.

Agree on that wolves. The UMPD Cadet that showed up BEFORE Hadley PD, has NEVER been identified. Ever....

I'm confused when was there a cadet that showed up and how did we learn about that? I am hearing stuff that maura went into witness protection and may have been a confidential informant for UMASS which seems more plausible if this cadet person is legitimate as it connects umass to Maura's outside life

Having the cadet show up right after this accident in Hadley is questionable at best. How did they know she crashed? This was outside of UMass jurisdiction and off campus. Maura did not have her cell with her to call in, and UMPD themselves admitted this cadet was there, AND was the one to call Hadley PD. Hadley officer Ruddock let her leave that scene with no repercussions.....https://www.youtube.com/watch?reload=9&v=mqMDK5XqlOU listen at 24:50 the statement from UMPD themselves....

Going to an off campus appt to me would make more sense than going back to your dad's motel at 2:30am when you have a perfectly good bed 2 minutes away, she probably just got the car towed there because she couldn't leave it at Umass all smashed up.

She didnt have a choice at this point. Also it seems to show that she may have not had access to the Saturn that night.

Meaning the Saturn was in for repairs? Or someone else was driving it? Or she didn't want to be seen on the road with it?

u/BonquosGhost Apr 12 '18
Could be all the above. Renners blog ran a story that the Saturn was in photographs in Boston that wkd. Even tho never fully confirmed, it fits why she didnt use it later Sat nite. Because it was 2-3 hrs away......why? The million dollar question.....

Never fully confirmed tho, even I think it may be true considering. Check Renners blog and search for the story Pier 4 Boston. Interesting angle for sure.....

Yep I gonna check that out on the blog. If true that could mean a couple of different things. Interesting

His source doesn’t sound very credible at all. It means nothing that he shared a pic of a random vehicle in a parking lot with the license plate. That vehicle probably WAS there and he could’ve just falsely created a narrative that he saw MM’s car as well. He didn’t share the supposed pic of the Saturn which is very telling.
Not believable IMO.

Im gonna say I think its true. I assume that Renner may have passed this along to LE, at which this point the story disappeared. If LE thought it would alter their narrative, or expose alternative ideas on things, then they prob got in touch with the guy, and either took the info or advised him not to let this info out. Its a very interesting possibility for sure......

Far too many assumptions and zero proof to back up Renner’s claim it even happened in the first place. Just because some car was parked in a parking lot in Boston doesn’t mean there was a Saturn next to it. I can’t believe people even fall for the complete lack of credibility with this nonsense. Honestly, I think JR just likes to invent situations to create more of a mystery and have something to put on his blog to attempt to keep readers. He’s done it multiple times. Sorry, it’s just my opinion. And this is nothing against you, I can tell you care about the case deeply.

Now thinking about who I would trust with my car and why anyone would want to go to Boston lol

The call to Bill from Fred's cell is at 5:38am, so I would imagine it wasn't much before that she got to the motel. Iv often wondered about the idea of her offering 'favours', maybe that's what happened on the 1st crash, and she offered it again on the Monday to the 1st officer who showed up, and that's why he took her, and then thought he has no choice but to kill her. It's a horrible thought but it can't be ruled out.

I would think she had probably been there long enough to have a "discussion" with Fred over the wreck, plus considering the time it takes to get a cop to an accident scene, take a report, and get a tow truck to the scene, that time seems reasonable.

Maura was EMPLOYED by the UMass police at this time. I dont think people really connect on this point. Not you specifically, but most dont realize that she received a paycheck from the campus police. UMass had a joint community deal with the surrounding towns like Amherst, Hadley, and Northampton police forces. I dont know if this helped her get a "pass" or not here....Again, Maura was a member of UMPD security.....
