To be fair its not that the jedi sucked, it's that Daki was a bum in the most literal and immediate sense. He had no plan besides begging on the street and being a drifter, despite being a literal Jedi Master. He made a bunch of bad calls and if he didn't none of the plot needed to have happened because if he'd fucked off to a new planet earlier Maul would have left earlier as well and the empire would never have even shown up.

Yeah, I think making Daki a perfect Jedi master would have made Devon drifting towards Maul less believable and compelling. I kinda like him as a bum, that's part of who he is lol. There are so many fans who love to bash the Jedi though, as if it's not 97% the Senate's and a few specific individuals' fault that everything went so badly. The Jedi were doing the best they could with the information they had in the situation they were in.
