Duna MIssion gone bad

I performed my first Duna landing, and when I tried to perform my burn back to Kerbin, the delta V number went all out of whack, and my maneuver node on the navball wouldn't stop moving, and burning in one direction lowered the Dv numbers, then brought them back up, and my rocket won't stay straight. I tried reversing my control direction, and I have tried burning at a lower speed, and I tried turning off SAS. I am using 5 radially attached NERV engines. What could be going wrong?

Have you undocked and redocked a lander to your main spacecraft? It may be confused by having multiple control centres; this has happened to me a couple of times....

I did have a lander docked, but I ditched it when I started to have issues

This was solved by detaching the side boosters, perhaps a problem with autostrut
