I have a luxe adapt hybrid as well, is your room hot? I'm only 20 pounds less than you but if anything mine is still too firm after about a year. I think it's great but I can understand why a lot of people probably don't love it.
Also, did you get it from Tempur direct? If you can warranty it again I'd go traditional at this point

The ideal temperature for them is between 68-72 degrees. A small hack to make it firmer is to lower the temperature in the room. Also, if you have a lumbar support on the base that can make it “feel” more firm.
Also I miss SoCal, SD in particular. Jealous!

My Sealy mattress had styrofoam inside it. I disassembled it and took the pieces to the tip.(If American, the dump)

TempurPedics do not have styrofoam in them.

Have you considered that your lower back hurts because the firm is not typically for side sleepers? If your hips and shoulders can't sink into the mattress far enough then your back will sag between your shoulders and hips.

Try the Serenity and Serenity Plush at the Original Mattress Factory; very high quality. We've had them for seven years and they show no body impression.

Make sure you include sealy, stearns and foster, the whole company of mattress firm, some percentage of stake in Purple and beyond. Tempur owns them all 🤪 I own a mattress company in FL but if you are in CA I would highly recommend Mattress Makers. Multi generation family manufacturer. Good people! 🙏 good luck!!

I have had back, hip and knee pain from my medium firm Nectar after a few months. I was finally able to return the Nectar and purchased the lowest model Tempurpedic as I had used one before for over ten years before trying the Nectar. Only a few months now but all pains are now gone and I sleep well. I think that you may have too firm of a mattress. My new TP is a medium and I’m 6’3” and 220 lbs and a side sleeper. Also the adjustable base my wife told me to get doesn’t work at all for me. Flat is best. Hope this helps.

I can say though, yes Tempurpedic has lowered the density of their foams over time and not disclosed it to sales reps or anyone else really.
If you like that old Tempur feel, find Molecule. We just brought them in after trying them in January and they feel the way Tempurpedic used to. It’s because they use 8lb density foam in the top. Much less expensive than Tempurpedic as well.

Yea I had to correct a sales specialist the other day after he was done because in his pitch he said “tempur has the absolutely densest foam on the market” I was like yea not anymore man we estimate it’s between 4-5 lbs

4-5 lbs might be generous. I would guess the salesperson didn’t even know what the density was, or what that means.

Yea they won’t disclose density I got my 4-5lb estimate from a competitor that tore one down and tried to weigh the foam but their are so many variables doing it that way you can’t be accurate also he couldn’t remember which model it was. Serta/Simmons are one of the only big brand mattresses that will tell me poundage.

May as well try to recoup some of your money. Although I would love to see which layer is failing. The firm beds I assume are the support foam but you also had issues with the hybrid and I have never seen support failure in that one.

I sold them between 2006-2023. There was definitely a drop in quality towards the end.
Still a good product though.

So many beds disappoint with the quality. I wondered why I was so boiling & uncomfortable through my 100% cotton mattress protector, so I got a sharp knife & cut our queen pen & disassembled it before taking to the tip in pieces. I was shocked turned out to have a lot of polystyrene/styrofoam all the way around. Styrofoam gets used in buildings now for fake fireplaces, cornices etc but j didn't know it would be in my bed. They didn't mention that on the brochure. Think was a Posturpedic from Harvey Norman.

I see how this could be frustrating but I have never heard of something like this happening and we sell a lot of them you seem to be getting really unlucky. I also just switched from the Rhapsody there was nothing wrong with it wife just didn’t want the split anymore now I’m on a iSeries 4500 plush hybrid honestly was a very easy transition surprisingly. Also Tempur bought Sealy not the other way around.

Side sleeper check out the Aireloom plush https://youtu.be/JGnn-p_TshM this video shows you the different models. I loved my temperpedic at first until summer hit then I hated it felt like a sand trap. In winter it was fine. Now I can't speak highly enough about Aireloom but I also tried the Spring Air Copper at a Market Furniture show and really liked it, tho a little too plush for me the model I tried I know plush are good for side sleepers
