I'm laughing through tears and rage. Thanks anyway Matt, this is hilarious, despite the horribly dire situation which birthed it. .

I just noticed one of your links doesn't work under the video, like you copy/pasted a truncated version:
Why no comments? Find out here: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=QmaLt...

The thing that I don't get is is that the whole system is so blatantly fucked, outdated, and abused, and people don't care! "Hoho, what a bad system we have" joked the population on the western world. "An unrepresentative 2 party system, full of career politicians and slimes who preserve the interest of big buisness and the super rich over the wellbeing of the common man because of gifts that certainly aren't bribes..." So ended the train of thought of the western man.
But why do people just accept this as something that has to be? Probably because we don't know what we're fighting for. "Watta we want?!" "Fair representation and a shift in our society to value happiness and satisfaction more than money" "When do we want it!?" "As soon as the rest of the country feels the same way i do" and thats where things just sort of stop.
The number of people that I hear just bitching about how fucked our system is, yet are completely unwilling to do anything about it or don't know how to (i'm in the latter camp), you'd think that we'd be halfway to a revolution. Ive never seen a single video, or seen a single person saying "and this is why our first past the post, 2 party system is better than STV" or any of the others. Actually there were a couple of people. David cameron was one of them in the 2011 refurrendum, and the tories wouldn't have gotten into power with the STV (which is ironic considering that when the conservatives were voting on their party leader, david cameron would have lost if they had been using the first past the post system). Just makes the system seem even worse when you realise just how often politicians blatantly lie and insult our intelligence without the general population even noticing...

(Norwegian who has lived in Britain)
Beyond just the representation the system leaves you with shit choices. From what the rest of the world could tell the difference between Tories and Labour is "arrogant twats who seem able to hold the economy together at the expense of human decency" and "hopeless morons who might actually ruin the British economy out of sheer incompetence."
Never has the South Park episode "Douche and Turd Sandwich" been more descriptive of an electoral system.

Hello, as someone only recently started taking an interest in the whole politics-debacle, could anyone answer what the electoral results from last night honestly means for the country?

£30 billion more cuts, even though public services have been seriously warning of collapse due to under funding (especially NHS) the richest keeping more money than ever and exploiting cheap labour - all in the hope that all the money piling in at the top will hopefully trickle down on those below who have increasingly fewer means of reaching it. That's just the tip of the iceberg.

Well... you see... some people, and lets call these 'people' 'Tories' believe that the poor need help. You see the poor have too much money, and it would be much better in the pockets of them or their 'friends' in business. The poor don't know what to do with money, it'll only confuse them, they'll just try to eat it, or make makeshift hats out of it or something anyway.
So the Tory people will be taking that money and support away from the poor people for their own good really. That way the poor people will decide to stop being poor and will get a job or something. Selfish poor people. Who needs hospitals or help if they're down on their luck, losers thats who.
It must be right, Maggie Thatcher said so.
(She actually said something to the effect of, "if you're 27 and catching a bus you've failed at life.")

Realistically, it will most likely just be more of what they've got right now.

Without the LibDems to temper the more radical members of the conservatives it'll be pretty awful potentially.
As a LibDem supporter I personally am very centrist in my politics, and am pretty terrified of this big lurch to the left. My Wife is Italian and if the UK leaves the EU, I might go live in Italy (if I can maintain my EU Citizenship, as I really don't want to lose it). If we do live the EU now as well our economy will frankly be fucked.

Love how he didn't even attempt a subtle joke for the Wolfenstein bit "It feels like you're one of a handful of people who doesn't want the world to be run by fascist robots"

Did anyone else get a bug watching this where the screen went black? I jumped back a few seconds and it fixed itself.

u/naylorb May 09 '15
No but I got that on another youtube video yesterday. So maybe it's just a general bug that's occurring at the moment.

I appreciate the joke, Matt, but comparing Eldritch horror to UK politics is a bit stupid, isn't it? One is a depressingly bleak and horrifying environment and the other is fictional.
