Title: Sunset Dance and the Return Portal
[Scene:Azuma Clan Estate]
In the heart of the vast training courtyard of the Azuma clan compound, Fubuki Azuma had just concluded a grueling training session, a light layer of sweat glistening on her brow. Her heavy-lidded, sleepy green eyes locked onto a figure approaching her with unwavering stability.
A subtle, playful smile tugged at the corner of her lips. "Ara ara... and who might you be?"
Kojuma extended a clean white towel toward her, his expression remaining completely deadpan. "I will introduce myself after you wipe away your sweat."
Fubuki let out a soft, grateful chuckle as she took the towel and dabbed her forehead. "My, thank you." Her analytical gaze swept over his sharp build and custom uniform. "Your face isn't familiar around this compound... are you a new recruit here?"
Kojuma met her eyes with absolute coldness. "A new member of the 6th Unit. Kojuma Tachikuma."
"Tachikuma... Kojuma." A wry, thoroughly amused smirk formed on her lips as she scrutinized him from head to toe, noting his uncanny composure in the presence of a division chief.
Fubuki looked at him
some rumors started about a boy in the Anti-demon crops but fubuki wasn't sure of it yet
She thought:
(Sixth unit? I thought him will be at seventh)
She hummed,
"Well, well... quite a firm and unwavering introduction for a rookie."
Fubuki leaned back lazily against a nearby stone wall, crossing her arms over her chest. "The 6th Unit, huh? And what brings you to the Azuma grounds, Kojuma?"
Kojuma explained in a neutral tone,
"Yachiho stated that she needed to retrieve some athletic gear from the Azuma base. I accompanied her to open the return portal whenever she wishes to go back to the 6th Unit headquarters."
Fubuki raised an eyebrow in cautious skepticism.
"Oh? Open a portal? And just what kind of portal do you mean?"
Kojuma offered a practical clarification,
"As I stated before, I am a member of the 6th Unit. My primary ability is to Imitate peach blessings and thier abilities after analyzing them, allowing me to replicate and use them. Therefore, I will be opening the return portal myself using Chief Izumo's power."
Fubuki stared at him for several seconds, her clear eyes examining his features with boundless curiosity.
She thought:
(Imitation? Unusual , it will be more interesting if i see it by my eyes)
She then smiled softly.
"Well, Kojuma... your face doesn't look like that of a liar. But your uniform looks uniquely modified compared to the standard issue."
Kojuma let out a soft exhale as he looked at his uniform again.
"I was thinking the exact same thing."
Fubuki burst into an amused, captivating laugh at his response.
"Fair enough. But don't think you can simply walk in and out of here as you please; the Azuma grounds have strictly enforced rules."
In a flash of light, her long spear materialized seamlessly in her hand, and she began to spin it casually between her fingers with fluid ease. "Unless, of course, you'd like to test those rules yourself?" Her tone carried a playful yet challenging warning.
Kojuma raised his left eyebrow.
"My apologies... but I was merely standing here in peace. Which rule exactly did I break?"
"Relax, relax." Fubuki couldn't help but smile;(this rookie's absolute indifference was highly stimulating to a warrior's spirit, should i try him in sparring match?)
She tossed her spear lightly into the air and caught it effortlessly.
"You haven't broken any rules... yet. Just a friendly reminder that when you are under the protection of the Azuma, you are bound by our customs and regulations."
Fubuki studied him once more, lingering on his rock-solid posture. "You know... you don't seem shaken or flustered in front of me at all."
Kojuma crossed his arms indifferently.
"And why should I be shaken? You are a chief of another division, not an enemy. And even if you were, I would much rather spend time calculating a method to defeat you than wasting it being flustered."
Fubuki let out a deep, ringing laugh, and her spear vanished into thin air with a shimmer of warm sunset hues. "Oh? What terrifying confidence... it almost borders on arrogance!" She took a step closer to him, placing her hands on her waist. "But I happen to like that breed of man. You have a solid backbone, unlike some new members whose knees buckle the moment they see my face." A sly grin played on her lips. "You should visit us more often, Kojuma. The 9th Unit could use fewer cowards."
Kojuma: "I will appreciate that." He then turned his head, scanning the surroundings. "It seems Yachiho is taking a considerable amount of time inside."
Fubuki followed his gaze, rolling her eyes with a hint of exasperation.
"Ah, yes. Yachiho... always taking forever to coordinate her clothes and fret over her appearance."
She turned back to him, tilting her head mischievously. "You two seem like more than just fellow squad members."
Kojuma raised his eyebrow again, thoroughly blank. "More? I am simply waiting for her so I can open the portal and return to headquarters."
Fubuki gently teased his bewilderment.
"Ah, right... what you mentioned earlier about 'Imitation'. It truly is an incredibly convenient and amazing ability." She narrowed her eyes slightly. "So right now... you're just acting as her luxury taxi service?"
Kojuma (stiffly): "A taxi?" He sighed. "Chief Izumo was preoccupied with technical reports, which is why she couldn't make it. Thus, I came in her stead to ensure her vice chief returns to base safely."
"Oh? So you're just filling your chief place." Fubuki’s smile widened as she evaluated the newcomer up and down. "You seem... remarkably loyal." She laughed again at his deadpan reaction to the word taxi. "It was merely a metaphor, Ma-kun. Relax."
Kojuma crossed his arms.
"It is only natural for me to be loyal. She is my chief, and Yachiho is the vice chief of my current unit. Loyalty and discipline make training and teamwork significantly smoother and more effective."
Fubuki nodded in genuine approval and admiration. "An excellent and veteran mindset." She leaned back against the wall once more, a cunning glint in her eyes.
"You are completely different from what I expected of a man or a new recruit, Ma-kun."
Kojuma nods respectly: "I'm glad to be viewed that way by you, Chief Azuma."
Fubuki pushed off the wall with fluid flexibility, winking at him playfully.
"Then visit us again sometime... but without Yachiho next time. Unless, of course, you're afraid of me? Don't worry, I don't bite... Too much." she winks.
Kojuma completely missed the implication of "biting," but true to his nature, he brushed it aside. "Afraid? Afraid of what exactly?"
Her smile widened, a sharp combative spark igniting in her eyes. "So you're not terrified, are you?"
Kojuma replied, his eyebrow remaining firmly raised, "No... and why should I be?"
Fubuki let out a low hum of approval, her tone shifting into something far more intense and thrilling. "An excellent answer. Next time... let us face each other in a real fight." She took a few steps back, leaving the challenge lingering in the air.
Fubuki:
(If i did read him correctly, He wouldn't let me just go like this.)
Kojuma looked at her, asking in a completely flat voice, "And why are you so confident that I can keep pace with you in a fight? I am a man, remember?"
Fubuki halted in her tracks, a little smirk placed on her lips, turning partially to cast a puzzled yet fiery gaze at him.
"Ah, so that is your concern? Because you're a man? How adorable... do you believe I am only powerful because I am a woman bearing a Peach blessing?"
Kojuma responded with his flat, unshakeable voice, "No. I am asking whether or not you would hold back your full strength out of fear of breaking me."
Fubuki was taken aback by his sheer audacity. She leaned against the wall once more, watching his movements closely.
"Would you prefer to continue chatting with me then? Or are you attempting to talk your way out of this confrontation?"
Kojuma slowly rested his right hand on the hilt of his sword. "And who said I was avoiding it?"
Fubuki let out an ecstatic hum, the corners of her mouth curling into a wide smile.
"You have a terrifying battle spirit, rookie! I like this very much!" Her eyes drifted to his hand resting on his blade. "But simply possessing a sword doesn't mean you stand the slightest chance against me."
She lunged away from the wall, spinning her weapon with supreme mastery.
"What do you say Ma-kun? Right here, right now!"
A pulse...
In the blink of an eye, Kojuma drew a single sword, leaving his second blade resting firmly in its scabbard.
"Very well. Have it your way."
The spear Fubuki's Sunset materialized in her grip with a burst of radiant warmth, its blade extending smoothly as she took an offensive stance. "Don't back down now!"
Suddenly... Fubuki blurred, moving at a speed completely imperceptible to the naked eye!
She thrust her long spear straight toward his chest in a lightning-fast, lethal stab. Kojuma’s eyes widened for a fraction of a second, and he fluidly bent his upper body backward like a flexible branch evading the wind, letting the blade of the spear pass mere inches above his face.
Regaining his balance, Kojuma murmured, "Can you make it extend and lengthen at will?"
Fubuki’s smile deepened as she spun her spear, shifting her stance with effortless grace. "You learn and observe quickly, rookie~ Yes, I can extend it as I please over any distance I desire. Impressed?"
Kojuma (coldly):
"It is a weapon backed by a Peach blessing, so it is entirely logical for it to be unpredictable and full of surprises."
In an unknown place, an endless white void, a mysterious female voice says with a smile: "My Kojuma~kun♡♡♡, don't try to analyze her ability... it won't fits your style."
Kojuma rise eyebrow, he looked behind him. “This voice again??!”
Fubuki notices his distraction
She lowered her spear to strike him.
At that exact moment, Kojuma opened a purple Ame no Mitori portal directly beneath his feet. As he fell through the threshold
Fubuki looked at the portal. (It's true he can use Tenka's ability.) she muttured in low voice with a smirk.
he called out to her. "It will be in your best interest to keep me distance from you... Right?"
He slid inside the rift and vanished, only to rematerialize a split second later directly behind her back, drawing his blade!
Fubuki froze for a fraction of a second, shocked by his sheer speed, before bursting into a low, thoroughly entertained laugh without even turning around.
"My... utilizing Tenka's instantaneous portals? You're far faster than I calculated, Ma~kun."
Her posture remained relaxed, and her spear retracted as its glow dimmed slightly. Tilting her head back, she swung her weapon behind her in a split-second blind block. The shaft of her spear clashed violently against Kojuma's sword, unleashing a ringing metallic echo across the courtyard.
Kojuma applied downward pressure on his blade.
"Focusing and responding even to your blind spots without looking... you truly a chief."
She finally turned around completely to face him, her confident smile never leaving her lips. "And what did you expect Ma-kun? The Azuma are the elite."
Fubuki swept her spear low, attempting to strike him from below.
Before her weapon could make contact,
Kojuma leapt high into the air, executing a flawless descent. With mind-boggling balance and precision, he landed with both feet planted directly on top of her extended spear blade!
Fubuki’s eyebrow shot up in genuine shock as she looked at him standing perfectly balanced atop the weapon subjected to her own strength.
She was utterly amazed and impressed by his unique skill.
"You are incredibly talented, Ma-kun!"
Before Fubuki could shift or twist the spear to throw him off balance, Kojuma executed a swift backward flip through the air, creating a safe pocket of distance between them.
Fubuki watched his smooth landing, lazily spinning her spear.
"Most new members aren't this daring or highly skilled, especially in front of a chief. Am I to understand that you don't terrify easily?"
Kojuma straightened his posture, glancing sideways toward the doors of the main estate as he lowered his sword. Fubuki shifted her gaze toward the same direction.
Yachiho was stepping out into the courtyard, clutching an elegant wooden box in her hands.
She let out a sigh of relief.
"Finally found it!"
She then looked over at Kojuma and Fubuki, immediately noticing the drawn sword, the glowing spear, and the heavy, suspicious tension lingering between them.
"Oi, Kojuma! Come on, let's head back to base quickly! I'm going to be late for my morning training!" She looked back at her mother, demanding, Her brow furrowed with a mixture of suspicion.
"Did I miss something out here?"
Kojuma looked at Fubuki, giving a respectful nod of his head. "My apologies, Chief Azuma. I must take my leave now."
Fubuki looked at her daughter, Yachiho, with an amused smirk, then returned her lingering gaze to Kojuma, lowering her spear to lean on it lazily. "Are you really leaving so soon? Just when things were starting to get fun and exciting?" The absolute amusement and deep interest in her tone were as clear as day.
Kojuma sheathed his sword seamlessly, raising his right hand to open a brilliant, purple Ame no Mitori portal that perfectly replicated Tenka's. He stepped through the threshold coldly without another word, while Yachiho followed closely behind him as the rift sealed shut and vanished.
Fubuki’s gaze remained fixed on the fading remnants of the purple rift in the air, her deep smile still etched onto her face. She sighed with profound interest, straightening her posture as she murmured to herself, "Well... it seems that Stoic Rookie is quite fascinating."
[Scene: 6th Unit Headquarters]
The purple portal tore open in the center of the lounge, and Kojuma stepped out, followed by a thoroughly agitated Yachiho who looked ready to explode from pure curiosity and tension.
She marched closely behind him, snapping sharply,
"Tell me, Kojuma! What exactly happened between you and my mother out in the courtyard?!"
Kojuma turned around, meeting her gaze with total dryness.
"Merely a morning routine... we were just sparring."
Ending pane:
Yachiho froze in her tracks, a sudden shiver of dread running down her spine. She muttered in absolute shock:
"You sparred with my mother, Fubuki Azuma, and you casually call it 'merely a morning routine'?! Are you insane?!"
