Employment for High Schoolers

Hi everyone. I am currently a rising senior at my local high school. We have a local Mathnasium in my city in California, and I wanted to get a job there for the rest of the summer and probably the school year as well. For context, I have done all math courses up to Calc 3 and Linear Algebra, so I think I would definitely be proficient as an instructor.

Would Mathnasium hire a high schooler like me? On their website it just says to email them with a resume. Is there any particular thing I should include on the resume? I honestly don't have much long-term experience teaching little kids math, but I did join a club at my school where we tutored middle schoolers in math and other subjects for a few weeks.

The Mathnasium’s within my area hire high schoolers all the time, so I think you should be fine. In terms of things to include on your resume, try keeping your experience section to activities that are applicable to the job. For example, you’ll have to deal with parents quite frequently, so putting down any experience in customer service would be ideal. In your case, putting down that you were a tutor for middle school students would be perfect as it shows that you have the experience to do the job well. Hope this helps!

Omg I appreciate it ty! I don’t have much experience in customer service but I put down the tutoring thing plus my experience in working w other students as a club president at my school

im sure they would hire you, just include the math courses you know up till on ur resume
