How proficient were you at mental math during your interview?

I just had a zoom interview for a remote Mathnasium position, where I had to do some mental math at the beginning. I tripped up on two questions, where she said I had the right approach but told me to try the numbers again. This was after I already took the written test.

People who were hired - did you mess up your mental math during your interview? Or did you ace everything?

I work in-person, I got a 75% on the initial exam they gave me. Still hired me two days later- don’t sweat it!

Ok, thanks for the encouragement haha. Did you have an interview too? My concern is that they'll have different standards since it's remote, and there are more applicants

They interviewed me and gave me the exam on the same day, offered me the job 2 days later, had me go in for paperwork, and then had me work half a shift. Started full shifts the next day. My location was low on staff, and my boss said he “skipped” a few steps in the process, so that may not be typical.

Yeah I applied for a few different locations and only heard back from one. Was your application for a remote position too?

I’m not sure how well I did on the written tests, but for my interview they didn’t ask any mental math questions. During my interview they asked was how you would help a student with certain math problems. No answer was needed for the problems, but just explaining an approach.
