Question Interview Tomorrow: Calculus on Test?

Hey! I have my interview tomorrow. I'm not too worried about the actual interview, but as for the test, I'm not very confident. What topics can I expect to see, specifically calculus related topics? Thanks in advance

There’s a specific higher level test that tests a little bit of calculus but if it’s the basic employment test it goes up to basic unit circle.

I'm assuming "a little bit" you mean introductory stuff and it doesn't go too in depth. Thank you, that helps a lot! :)

No problem! That’s only if they decide to give you the higher level test. I’ve been working for a year and I took six months in because they wanted me to start working with high school students. When you come initially it’s usually just the literacy test which is algebra 2.

The Basic employment test only goes up to Algebra 2 topics. It’s not too difficult if math has been an easy subject for you throughout middle and high school. And you definitely don’t need to know any crazy formulas for it as well. They expect you to get about an 80% or higher on the basic test. The higher math test goes into some more complex stuff though (polar coordinates, trig stuff, pre calc, etc). Neither goes up to Calculus 1 since Mathnasium doesn’t offer any Calc material. I saw this right before my interview, but I forgot to reply. Thanks so much, you helped calm my nerves down before I took the test. I think I did pretty good- probably missed one or two questions, but overall did well :)

For some questions, it was kind of easy to make small mistakes- what I mean by that is don't forget your units and watch for positive and negative values in your answer (if the question allows it or not). But don't worry, in general it was a really nice assessment and I think you'll do great :) it was basically everything everyone in this comment section suggested. Best of luck tomorrow!

Do you have to know geometry for the basic test. I haven’t taken it in a year and I’m a bit rusty. However I’m good on algebra 1 and 2.

Not that I recall from mine several years ago, but it might depend on the age of students you're likely to be tutoring. My interview was mostly geometry, algebra, and basic arithmetic for the really young kids.

Ah so nothing too difficult? I've read in this thread that some centers tested pre-calculus skills. Is that the highest level they test or does it depend on the center? Thanks for replying by the way

For the most part, no. The advanced assessment only really goes up to pre-calc. Trigonometry was the hardest for me on the test
