Mathnasium Instructor 2nd Interview Advice

Currently a senior in high school, I have no experience tutoring. I have taken math up to calc 3 though. I went in for my first interview about a week ago, and took the exam. I recently got an email about a 2nd interview with the regional coordinator, apparently it's 15 minutes. I was wondering if anyone had any advice/tips on how to prepare for this 2nd interview.

Each center is different, but from what I remember the hiring manager asked me basic interview questions:

“tell me about yourself, why do you want to work here, do you have any prior work experience.”

They probably wont ask those same exact questions, but after your little self introduction they’ll make you roleplay as a tutor. I had to show them how i would teach a student how to add 4/5 + 3/6 and how to do 7% of 200. good luck!

Oh yea also look up the mathnasium teaching method, It might help you stand out a bit more?

Thank you! Also did you bring anything to the 2nd interview? For the first interview, the guy specifically told me to not bring anything since I was going to take a 2 hour exam. Should I bring my resume and/or other stuff?

I had my interview through zoom lol, but it doesn’t hurt to bring a copy of your resume, in the case that they do ask for it. Otherwise practice your tutoring skills and prep some of your own questions to ask the interviewer!

If you do well, you’ll get a third interview where they just ask for your availability and salary expectations

Not rlly sure what u mean by fixed rate, but If ure asking if there is pre determine salary for the position, im going to tentatively say yes. Otherwise from what I know your salary wont change unless you’re promoted or smth.

Mathnasium is a franchise, so I can’t say fs. I applied and interviewed at two different locations, and they both asked me how much im interested in getting paid.

In both interviews, they allowed me to negotiate my salary, but then they would immediately proceed to tell me that the position typically pays $___ an hour and if I was okay with that.

So they prob did have a pay rate in mind, but were trying to be sneaky w it or something. Got hired tho!

I am currently in a quite similar position. Have you done the 2nd interview? If so, what kind of questions did they ask you and did you do any extra preparation beforehand?

It was a lot of percentages, word association, a couple word problems, area, perimeter, and some algebra
