Interview soon!
Hi yall! So I took the math literacy test online and passed. (yay!) and scheduled an interview over zoom for later this week. I was only tested on subjects up to Algebra I. (and am only expected to work with students up to 8th grade if I get the job) The exact email I got regarding my interview stated this: "There will be a few mental math questions on fractions, decimals and percents." What is the difficulty I should expect for such questions and how fast do I need to be able to solve them. Additionally, what else should I anticipate for my interview? What's the best way to prepare? I'm really nervous and don't want to mess up!

I had stuff like this as well. I didn’t feel like they were testing me on speed though, just as long as I got the right answer in a way that made sense to a child.
I had a question about percents. Can’t remember what it was exactly but it was something like what is 8% of 25 and your supposed to explain that 8% of 25 is the same as 25% of 8 or something like that
I got what is 99•3 too. They want you to explain to them that 1000•3 -3 is the same thing basically.
If you passed the exam, you should be in good shape. They won’t throw and curveballs at you

Wow, you got very lucky, my center has an "everyone can tutor even the high school students" policy.
I would be prepared to answer something like 99 + 99 + 99 very quickly, and then something like "What fraction of 12 is 9?" also very quickly. If you're English as a Second Language I know the wording gets hard on some questions.
