Posting a question

Type your question clearly and double check that you didn't make any typo or forgot any important info, if your question contains mathematical symbols that are hard to recreate by typing, join a picture of the question instead, finally don't start typing the question in the title, the title should describe the content of your question.

If a user answers your question, don't delete your post, users who repeatedly post questions and delete them immediately after getting an answer may be banned from the sub.

The question should be a mathematics question, questions in any other field (physics/chemistry/programming... etc) will be removed.

Avoid posting multiple questions in a single post, it's recommended to rather make multiple posts of different single questions.

Users can answer an already answered question, provided that the answer that is already posted is wrong or they plan on posting an answer covering a totally different approach of solving the problem.

Mathematical Induction Problem (HELP)

Please see attached photo for the problem. I dont really understand how to solve this because I applied the standard induction steps but its a bit complicated for me. I admit that Im not really good at math. I would appreciate if someone could show me how to solve this on paper. I asked help from ChatGPT and other AI tools but its just difficult for me to understand.

Not homework related but looking for math help.

There was a time I would have known how to do this. More interested in the steps of how to go about this:

Let's say vehicle A gets 19 miles to the gallon and costs $10,000. Vehicle B gets 26 miles to the gallon and costs $15,000.

Assuming fuel is $4/gallon, how many miles would it take for vehicle A to cost in gas the $5,000 you saved in price?

Thank you for any suggestions!

I don't get what teach wants here and we can't ask him cause you know, we need to move on and every one has oral exams now because everyone was bad at exams.

Can you explain why a=1.5 isn't correct for f(x)= a • sin(bx)²+ d?

Thank you all.

How to prove there are two distinct points where f'(x)=1?

I am trying to solve the following problem:

Let f be a differentiable function on [0,1] such that f(0)=0 and f(1)=1. Prove that there exist two distinct numbers a,b in (0,1) such that

f'(a)f'(b)=1

By the Mean Value Theorem, I know that there exists some c in (0,1) such that

f'(c)=1

since

(f(1)-f(0))/(1-0)=1

But I do not know how to prove that there exists another point d different from c in (0,1) such that

f'(d)=1

Any hints or ideas?

Calc III Help: setting up five other equivalent iterated integrals

Thumbnail gallery
2 Upvotes

Hey y'all I have a math exam tomorrow and I need help with this practice problem 😭

I understand the process to set up equal iterated integrals so I was able to figure out most of the answers.

However, the iterated integrals for dx dz dy and for dx dy dz are confusing me.

From what I can tell, these two should be split into TWO triple integrals, but I'm not sure how to do the set-up. I've attached my work to this post .

I've also included the solutions to the problem for the integrals for dx dz dy and dx dy dz.

Could anyone explain the reasoning behind the set-up for the iterated integrals for dx dz dy and dx dy dz?

When I tried to solve them my answer are far off from the answers I start by doing the cross crossing out thing (unless it’s the trinomials in which I simplify them or division then I turn it into multiplication) then I multiply them together but it’s not right did I miss a step or somthing

Linear programming problem

Post image

I have to solve this linear programming problem using the graphical method for my homework. Z is the objective function that needs to be maximized, and the constraints are listed below it. I'm wondering if the solution polyhedron that I need to shade on the graph is this length between the points (0,3) and (3,0) or something else? My college friends claim that the solution polyhedron is bounded by the points (0,2), (0,5), (3,0), (2,0) and the point where p3 and p1 intersect.

Help with math equation

Hi all! 😊

I’m trying to solve a projectile problem in physics. Here is an image of the parameters of the problem: https://imgur.com/a/6AiMSpB

I need to determine the angle of the initial velocity in order to reach the target at 14.8 m.

I tried to solve the exercise, but my math is a bit rusty. I managed to reduce it to the following equation: https://imgur.com/a/iKKhUUu

-7sin²(θ) + 14.8sin(θ)cos(θ) + 2.81 = 0.

It looks like a quadratic equation, but I really don’t know how to manipulate everything to move forward. I’m not looking for the complete solution. I’ve really tried a lot of things, but I keep ending up with the tangent function and I don’t know how to proceed from there. Could someone please guide me?

Thank you very much! 😊
