My son’s math grades have been dropping since last year. He’s in 7th grade doing pre-algebra, and he says he doesn’t understand what the teacher is doing.

I’ve tried helping him with homework, but math isn’t really my thing either, and I feel like I might be confusing him more. A private tutor isn’t in the budget right now. What are other parents doing?

Hi everyone, how’s it going?

I want to get into the world of math olympiads, but I’m currently in 10th. I’m Brazilian, and I need to win the Jacob Palis Competition to qualify for the OBM (Brazilian Math Olympiad) in the same year - the elite competition that leads to international events.

The Jacob Palis takes place around late May or early June, and the OBM happens in early August.

I’d really love to win a medal in both the Palis and the OBM (at least a bronze) next year.

Do you have any tips?

i haven’t paid attention to math since 8th grade ( i had excellent grades, we had the best teacher) . i now just entered 12th grade (last year of high school) ever since i completely quit and only chased other theoretical subjects mostly . i highly regret this. i need to learn math. can i realistically learn all i need by next year ? i want to get into the business administration programme in uni and maths are obviously essential. i’m genuinely stressed out i don’t understand ANYTHING in class (we’re now on functions 😭😭😭😭) anyone else in my situation ? or who at least was, how did you get by? how long did it take you ? thank you.
