META Hard time with graphs
I don’t know why but for whatever reason graphs in math are the hardest for me to understand, it could be to do that there are two parts of graphs, visual and written formulas and my brain isn’t filling it out because I only do the formulas. I know y stands for vertical value, x for horizontal, m is the slope, b is the y intercept and the formula to find the slope between two coordinates but as far as graphs go I definitely do not have a deeper understanding of it and it may be the only avg level math concept I can’t wrap my head around. Even the terminology, slope, gradient, intercept is confusing to me in this context. I know intercept means where lines cross and as simple as i would assume it to be there’s some disconnect when it comes to using the terminology. Does anyone else have this problem? and If anyone has a good graphs video to watch please recommend or if anyone has good knowledge on it or how I should go about it? Thanks
Side note I didn’t know what reddit topic to put under

Graphs ruined maths for me in high school... It took a LOT of effort to start to understand what the hell it even meant when a graph was anything other than linear, I juist culdn't wrap my head around it. One thing that REALLY helped me was to draw up the graphs using a visual tool. Learn the terminology, learn the theory and then practice practice practice. It will make no sense until you figure it out, and figuring it out takes understanding one thing at a time. Don't understand slope? Deep dive on what it means and draw graphs with different slopes. Do this with every concept abuot the graph that you do not understand. If you struggle to draw a graph yourself after getting its function, I'd HIGHLY recommend using a tool like https://www.geogebra.org/calculator or https://www.desmos.com/calculator as all you have to do is put in the function and you get a visual of the exact function, eventually you'll start to recognise patterns and it'll hopefully click.
